Re: Frankly Mr. Shankly ranked third best song about qutting your job per Village Voi
I cannot believe there are that many songs talking about quitting a job, right? The two songs ranked at number 1 & 2 may be a better match in terms of lyrics but is not as inspired, musically.
Please, do not forget Morrissey likes the controversy; he likes to create these media storms in a teacup. Attention-seeking? Especially when he is without an album deal?

IMVHO, the spoof idea is rather funny though (or perhaps because) it is highly controversial. As much as I like most of Morrissey's music, I cannot agree with his every utterance.

Isn't that a Girondins de Bordeaux jersey? Is he going to replace Yoann Gourcuff?
I have long come to the conclusion that, as much as I love Morrissey's music (with the Smiths or solo) I may not share all his views on the world - most of which are no doubt expressed with the sole aim of getting media attention.
It is pointless to stop liking the music because we do not agree...
Re: Article: "The Smiths -- Complete" Super Deluxe Collectors Box from Rhino, limited
You missed the important bit, perhaps: re-evaluate the songs? Isn't that the whole point of remastering?
£30 per album is extortionate. Hopefully, it will be possible to buy the *remastered* CDs...
Amusingly, have you noticed that, out of The Queen is Dead, only Bigmouth Strikes Again was quoted as a favourite track by today's 'stars'? I tend to prefer Strangeways, Here We Come, but TQID is a wonderful album & its quarter century deserves celebration!

I would love to lay hands on that record. Anyone knows why the release was cancelled at the last minute? I do not remember we ever got an explanation. It's all rather mysterious. (It is a bit surprising this did not sell for more!)
The documentary sounds interesting too...
A cover is always something exciting imvho. Remember that at some point Morrissey & Marr wanted to feed other artists their compositions, like Leiber & Stoller have done. I am still waiting for a cover of Morrissey / The Smiths to become a world wide hit, though. Wouldn't it be nice...
Like e.o else, I am tempted to quote Paint a Vulgar Picture: this is hardly interesting, unless you are an avid collector of all things Smiths. It would be more interesting to hear the album remastered, possibly with bonuses, instrumentals, outtakes etc. I am thinking of the work that was done...
