It wasn't a Peel show - it was a Kid Jensen show. And the full show isnt available, just that someone on the Peel mailing list found a cassette of pause button edit recordings from Kid Jensen and digitised

A new source for the Kid Jensen session version of I Don't Owe You Anything has been unearthed via the Peel mailing list. To my ears it's a much cleaner version than either of the others I've heard in circulation...
I think you're right - Rank was recorded by the BBC which would have been multitrack and subject to post-mix. All of these other live shows we've been hearing are from mixing desk stereo cassette recordings that Grant Showbiz took, so unless the Boston show had a unique set up that allowed it to...

Slightly disappointed that the Some Girls version is identical to the released version, so I created matrix mix from the audience recording and the soundboard - it's longer as it includes more audience at the start and finish - plus it's a bit livelier with...
Ah well - my dream of a rare soundcheck version disappeared. Compared to the released version, this doesn't seem to have been tampered with at all. A shame as it always sounded slightly muddier than the other live tracks they've released as part of this campaign. Just for my own amusement I have...
Nah - these haven't been retrospectively mixed to ditch Gannon, they are live to cassette soundboard mixes from Grant Showbiz's archive. If Gannon is low in the mix it's because that was the mix at the show. He was only ever filling in the gaps in the sound that Johnny couldn't reproduce. He was...
Brilliant - someone at Smiths HQ must have spent the past 3 days in bed. Better late than never!
Also - I thought there was a digital glitch for a second at around 1:17 when Moz sings "crashes into us" - but upon further investigation, it's just the incongruous double-bass drum beat that Joyce...
I for one am not being whiny - I'm just curious as to whether they will simply remaster the existing SGABTO live performance from the Brixton last gig, or (WISHFUL THINKING!) whether they will find a soundcheck version, as alluded to in Simon Goddard's book. He says it was played in soundchecks...
Not sure how they plan to finish this series, as it’s supposed to be one unreleased live version of each track from TQID. As far as I know they only playd Some Girls Are Bigger than Others once (at Brixton Academy last gig) and that was already released on the I Started Something single way back...
Not listened to the Stereo Rip yet – but surely they won’t be different takes?
Is it not just that additional instrumentation has been revealed by including the other channel?
I rip loads of vinyl too, so I know how much effort it takes – but that was my point, all that effort and somewhere along the line a fundamental mistake is made which intrinsically damages the quality of the rip. I was surprised that someone committed enough to go to all that effort would not...
Sorry didn’t mean to offend! (was it you that did the rip?)
I mean that if the vinyl is stereo, and someone was able to rip it to digital then they either purposefully converted it to mono (unlikely) or their set up to rip vinyl is all wrong.
I guess that doesn’t make you stupid. You’re...
Cool - I did find it hard to believe that the vinyl bootleg was only mono – there must have been a special kind of stupid person involved in the original rip!
The blogger at The Power Of Independent Trucking has now posted an improved rip and tweaked the EQ
He says the original bootleg is mono, so I’m not sure what the source of the stereo version is at Smiths Torrents..
