Oh that is such a prosaic explanation, I am rather disappointed. Im a keen Dickens fan too so am slightly embarrassed that I didn't recognise the quote.
Ohh I like that, the Moor lies because it conceals its true nature during the day. I too considered that there was an ambiguity at work in the title of the piece that allows a multiplicity of interpretations.
Ever since reading this I have been wrestling with an interpretation of the title of the piece. The optins I have come up with are that a) the 'Bleak Moor' is telling lies to the people who venture into its bleak landscape, although for what reason I do not know. Maybe because it will not reveal...
If my memory serves me right these pics were taken for an article that appeared in Q magazine in about '92-93. I'll try and find it out as I bought it at the time. Moz did some really good interviews at that time and may even have been on the cover, which I think was headlined 'Yes, I am pregnant'.
Doesn't the song Nobody Loves Us sum up the Morrissey fan type? Homemade Jam and cake lovers who just want somebody to hold their hand and show them a little tenderness, which I think Morrissey does. At least thats how I feel. :drama:
An altogether fun programme with Moz in delightfully obfuscatory mood, contradicting himself from one sentence to the next. Not particularly illuminating for seasoned Moz followers but he seemed to be having fun. Fairly pedestrian choice of tunes too as there are much better New York Dolls...
Just in case anyone is not aware of this the documentary that Morrissey sampled for Spring Heeled Jim has been included as an extra on the very recent BFI dvd of Saturday Night And Sunday Morning. So you can get two prime Moz sacraments for the price of one, and very good they are too.
Got to be Sheffield City Hall for me as well. The grandeur of the Art Deco architecture and opulent decoration combined with the great acoustics always seemed to me to suit Morrissey. It is quite large but does maintain an intimate feel. When I first saw him there in '92 there was a pit and...
Hi there just wanted to let people know that there is a half page article about the bottle throwing incident in todays Daily Mirror. The article is on page 15 and is headlined 'Big Mouth is Struck Again'. The main interest is an excellent photo of Moz actually being hit on the head by the...
It certainly seemed like some strange cult at the stage in Sheffield last friday. All those outstretched hands, me included. It was almost too much for me again. Now I'm a committed atheist but if Jesus could make me feel like Moz does I'd be the most zealous evangelist under the sun!
For all his protestations about his shyness, and I do beleieve he is shy in social situations, he craves the adulation he recieves from his fans and also from the general public. It is for this reason that I don't think Moz can just hang it up. If he could he would have done so durinf his LA...
On the subject of the encore shirts I have a suspicion that someone goes out and buys them in each town he visits. The shirt he wears during the show is obviously a shirt he likes as he removes it after the main set and comes back out wearing a new clean shirt. In Sheffield he was wearing what...
Has anyone noticed that on the back cover of Swords Morrissey is wearing two watches, one on either wrist? Does anyone have any idea why this is or has anyone else even spotted it and is currently reflecting on this enigmatic statement regarding time? It isn't exactly the kind of thing one does...
