An Intelligent Bandleader's Approach to Monitors By Chris Kathman, ProSoundWeb

Excerpt:

Jerry Jeff’s audience actually flies down to Belize every summer and has a big old time with the man and his band for a few days. He has taken the Buffett-style parrot heads a whole step further. But for absolutely insane fans, you can’t beat Morrissey.

Guardian Hay festival turns to film - The Guardian

The Guardian Hay Festival this summer is to offer film events as well as the usual banquets of literature, comedy, cabaret, politics, art, music and children's entertainment.

...The 10-day programme has further extended its colonisation of the grounds of Hay castle - which already boasts the biggest marquee in Wales - by booking Elvis Costello and Morrissey and introducing a state-of-the-art cinema, thanks to sponsorship by Film Four and Arts and Business.

Ryan also notes:

No confirmation on the festival site yet, but it really would be wonderful if true. Hay-on-Wye is such a interesting and beautiful town and the festival has become one of the UK's greatest literary events.

Gin N Tonic Jil writes:

I got to the Troub. without any tickets. I knew the show was sold out but, got at the box office anyway to at least ask and see if I could score a ticket. As I waited in line I asked a few people passing by or inline if they had one extra tix they might wanna sell me but, no luck. There was one couple in front of me at the box office window trying to get their tix they had been promised by knowing one of the members of the zutons. The guy was told that only he could get in and not his guest. So the guy got mad and tried to shove the one ticket back to the box office girl when his Japanese girlfriend says to him " give it to the girl in back she needs just the one ticket" so he gave it to me along with the VIP sticker. So I drive home (5mins away from The Troub) got dressed and smoked some weed and got a cab to the gig.

As I walked in I noticed my chance to get to the front of the stage was slim. So I chilled in the back. As I scoped out the place I noticed this man and lady sitting all alone in the very VIP area that was reserved only for the two of them. I thought I was too high, and thought about returning the very strong kronic my mate had just sold me, when I noticed that Morrissey himself was at the same gig I was.

In this afternoon's show on BBC Radio2, right after playing "Heaven knows I'm miserable now", DJ Steve Wright chirpily said how Morrissey was his mate, now, and how they'd been on the Underground and that he taken Mozz out for a meal..(?!?) How generous of him.
