It's serious and official! Morrissey plays the Montreux Jazz Festival on the 11th of July! Support by Sons & Daughters. It's been over ten years he has played in here! Come to Montreux (lovely Place on the lakeside), because I'm not to sure if many Swiss know him!

A monarch of the glum - The Herald

But if Morrissey is obsessed by fame, he is also looking worryingly like a monarch who has achieved mature contentment. With a musical director keeping things in shape from the rhythm guitar (and doubling on sax, natch), the singer appears to have relaxed into an easy way to make a living. On the merchandise stall, Morrissey goodies ran to underpants and, regally, medals. Yours for £10 each, laddie.

World famous Salford Lads Club photo of The Smiths leads new exhibitions as Morrissey’s UK tour sells-out

Iconic images of influential band continue to attract attention 20 years on

25 April 2006: Renowned photographer Stephen Wright is delighted to announce that a collection of his limited edition photography of The Smiths is to be featured in key exhibitions at the Manchester’s museum of urban life, Urbis, and the London-based Sony Ericsson Proud Galleries.

The most famous of the images was shot for The Smiths’ 1986 album The Queen Is Dead and features the band standing outside Salford Lads Club. The Smiths have been one of the most iconic and influential of British bands for the last 20 years.

At the time of the photo shoot, Morrissey said of the images: “A sweeter set of photos were never taken.”

The images will feature in the “0161” and “I love Manchester” exhibitions at the Urbis gallery in July and August. Many of the same photos will be on sale at the Sony Ericsson Proud Galleries in London in May.
