From Peter Lynn:

Morrissey fans might want to take note that he is mentioned in a recent interview with musician Mojo Nixon that was conducted by "The Onion's A/V Guide" with regards to his new album.

An excerpt is as follows:

O: Your cover of "Girlfriend In A Coma" was a nice way of taking a jab at Morrissey.

MN: That song lends itself to Mojoness very well. Morrissey is pathetic. He doesn't eat meat, he doesn't get laid, and he's crying all the time. He's like an 8-year-old kid whose dog gets run over every day at 4:30. He's kind of an easy target.

hmm...well lets see if the @#!!! can achieve the kind of status that Morrissey has...then maybe he can say these things and be listened to.

Mojo is without a doubt correct. "Don Henely Must Die" is a far more impecable track than Moz's "There is a light...". On a side note, hasn't Mojo ever heard "Let the right one slip in"

Yeah Right - We should all listen to a guy who uses his manager's girlfriend's credit card to get his song produced.

Mojo played "The Next Decade" here in Pittsburgh. This thrown-together, practiced for 3 weeks, cover band I used to be in was offered to play at "The Next Decade". I think that pretty much sums up his pathetic, terribly washed up joke of a career.

WE CANNOT TAKE THIS CRITIQUE IN A VERY PERSONAL WAY. BESIDES, THE WHOLE DOG THING IS QUITE LAUGHABLE........

Mojo messes with Morrissey...Mojo messes with Morrissey's fans.

Talk about wheeling out tired, unfunny 80s stereotypes of Moz, like how revoloutionary, what cutting edge satire! Is he Henry Rollins or Marilyn Manson in disguise? Besides, how does HE know if Moz gets laid or eats meat anymore, I'd certainly suggest the former vow has been breached a number of times, especially recently ;)

who the hell is mojo nixon? I'm very knowledgable
with lots of music and i've never heard of this
loser. So typical to pick on poor Moz, hasn't got
the guts to pick on tough rednecks like Henry
Rollins and his ilk so he picks on Moz who seems
like a "bit of a pushover"

Mojo... isn't that the stuff they sucked out of Austin Powers? Anyway, I agree with Luke; never heard of the guy in my life.

i think the only thing i know about this guy is that his name is mentioned in that dead milkmen song 'punk rock girl'...perhaps the only bonafide claim to fame for this guy...

I don't know how old that article is, but I heard Mojo Nixon's cover of "Girlfriend In A Coma" back in 1996.. it was funny for a first listen, but I don't know how well it would hold up over time...he sings the song pretty straight-forward,in his hillbillyrocker style, but then for the last several minutes, he goes on a rampage against Morrissey, expanding on the quote from the article. (You may remember Mojo Nixon for his top 100 hit, "Elvis Is Everywhere")
