Very well done! What did you use to do that and how? I haven't done any audio editing at all. Could you answer a question to? Would I be better off with .wav files or are mp3s ok?

Mp3's are fine if your 'kbps' are 128-192 or over. WAV file are huge and take up alot of space.
I use MP3Gain to edit to volume. Its a really handy tool to have on your PC. 96db is roughly your average CD volume. See here for the (freeware) program - http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/
