Someone needs to eat.

Well I think they're a really good band but the singer is a bit of a twat..... And life goes on. I will check out his solo stuff too but am looking forward to their new LP.

I hope the singer does the honourable thing with any royalties and buy some food

He has a disease. Marfan's Syndrome or something like that. He's sick.

Anyway I'll take this song over Morrissey's last 3 LPs...

Deerhunter – you are as original as eyebrow piercings and equally as boring. Your music represents what so many talentless skinny and banal children do so well – send people to sleep.

Morrissey’s comment about the Ramones was written when he was three years old and anyone who is intelligent enough to do the research before committing to print, would have realised Morrissey eventually came to adore the Ramones. Of course, tastes do change from one's childhood years through to adulthood.

Your hipster rhetoric has obviously unwittingly only embellished the esteemed platform Morrissey holds which fortunately you will never understand nor come close to.

Back to your two chord rock you go

I also remember him saying that he had come to the conclusion, after years of adoring them as a teenager, that the New York Dolls were "absolute stenchers"...this was, maybe, in the 80s, some interview.

I remember another interview, a video, Smiths-era, where he talked about how he looked back on so many of the songs and singers he had loved as a kid and could not think why he'd ever cared.

Seriously. Not making this up.

Yes, I just re-watched the second interview you are talking about last night)I hadn't seen it in years and half forgot it). Moz says something like he ad an intense almost unhealthy obsession with the dolls and then one day he felt nothing....I was shocked too. i guess he changed his mind:)

That was a very fun interview to watch. This was before Moz developed a strategy to keep interviewers at bay, he is very genuine and forthcoming in this interview, it was 1984-ish (he says he is 25). One funny part is after Morrissey talks about his celibacy, he says he wants to have kids, the interviewer (who is not shown, oddly) asks him who the mother would be and Morrissey says "I don't know, maybe me." Hahaha

That is funny as all get-out. "Ramones are Rubbish!" Ha! Guess what I heard on the mainstream rock radio station yesterday? "I Wanna Be Sedated"...guess what I didn't hear? The same thing I haven't heard for 30+ years...
Never heard of Deerhunter...looks like a really whack version of James...but I'll give 'em a listen. They're recording...life goes on.

Is Deerhunter a band? :squiffy:

it would so appear.. i honestly have never heard of them.. i think this statement about them is a bit exaggerated: "Deerhunter have established themselves as one of the best and most prolific bands in contemporary indie rock over the past half decade."

PS .. My wife has never heard of them either.

I suppose this might be the last any of us speak of them.

If you gentlepeople still haven't heard Deerhunter you really should. Bradford is gay like Mozzer, and he too is asexual by choice; and just as self pitying. But the music he makes isn't slick pop-punk retreads, it is like what The Smiths would've sounded like if they had continued on the same experimental direction of Strangeways. Kind of like Radiohead but "cooler" and the lyrics actually mean something (unlike Radiodead).

If you also want to hear another indie great TOTAL Smiths Rip-off (with a touch of MBV), check out Wild Nothing. The guitar parts are almost as good as young Johnny's, but the lyrics are pretty rubbish (though a bit better than Johnny's lyrics). Pitchfork loves these guys.

If you wanna hear a really f***ed-up experimental dark Smiths Rip-off, check out Xiu Xiu (Pitchfork really, really loves them). Probably the bleakest lyrics I've heard this side of death metal, and really "ugly" sound design. Kind of like Downward Spiral NIN but less trite and super gay.
