GoFundMe for Jo Slee

Via Ally Phillips:

"...In July 2023 Jo was diagnosed with a recurrence and is now embarking on an intensive period of treatment, healing and recovery, again combining allopathic and holistic medicine. She tried chemo, but after two rounds, had to decline as the side-effects were so ferocious and catastrophic.

Since then she has had ablation to metastases in her liver, and is now fully immersed in a protocol of ongoing holistic treatment, alongside NHS tests and monitoring.

The most recent test results (January 2024) have been encouraging, showing further reduction in both primary and axilla sites, and the liver clear.

Funding: Initial costs, including supplements, many trips to hospital locally, a private consultation, and the trip to UCLH in London for liver ablation, came to £1820. We estimate that ongoing specifically targeted supplements and vitamins will cost £476 per month. Thus the target we have set is the initial cost plus 24 months of ongoing support (£11,424), total £15,503.

We want to give this wonderful woman every support we can, hence this appeal to her circle of friends and family to help support her ongoing monthly costs and return to full health and vitality. All funds go directly to cover treatment, the targeted supplements and vitamins prescribed for her, along with any transport costs relating to hospital visits..."

good luck to her in this fifficult time, serious illness is something i would imagine would be so hard to go through.

Swear there's someone who could surely make this reach 100% in a heartbeat.

Jo Slee is a legend, although she contributed nothing musically, she is an integral part of the Smiths story. All those fantastic sleeves channelling Morrissey's vision for presenting their music in a unique and artistic way no other band had. You knew it was a Smiths sleeve even without their name on it. Just check out the Peepholism book, which we all have im assuming.
Wishing her all the very best. X

jo must have some hidden gems from her designs with M,get them on ebay and make yourself good money to buy what you need.

Agreed, tho would be nice if Morrissey could help in some way.
This will never happen but they could use it as an excuse to get together for a few songs. The Suede Albert Hall concert for Teenage Trust led them to reforming. That'll never happen with Moz/Marr but this would be a chance for people to put their egos/hurt pride aside and do something good.

That would be great tho i meant financially, i dont know whether they are still in touch but she was so integral to their story. But yeah, what do i know, if i was Moz or Johnny and had the means i would pay for what she needs just purely as a thank you for what she did for them in the past, and to my knowledge she hasn't bad mouthed anyone.
But as for a gig involving Johnny and Moz, it aint ever gonna happen, sadly.

Whose to say Moz doesn't/hasn't helped, but doesn't shoot his mouth off about it.

Yes, I'm sure Johnny has lots of resources.

£15,000 is chump change to Morrissey. That's probably what he spends on a couple of designer shirts and a weekend stay with Damon in one of his preferred luxury 5 star hotels. The idea that he'd have to do a benefit gig with Marr to raise if he wanted to support this is absolutely ludicrous.

Absolutely ludicrous is that you don’t realize it wasn’t meant seriously..

I don't think anyone said he'd have to do anything. For all we know both Moz & Marr are already donating behind the scenes. They can well afford to. It would be amazing if they used this as a reason to come together for a tribute concert. That will never happen but it's a nice daydream.

Too much cancer around. One in 3 now. I don't see why this should be so.

Immuno-therapy has worked well for some I know. Wishing the legendary Jo Slee a full recovery and all the support needed :flowers:

she only needs £15,000,it would cost more than that to put a show on which would defeat the purpose.

Wishin' the best to Jo on her healin' and recovery.
Hopefully once these alternative methods can be
practiced and analyzed, then the options will be
available under health plans.
