Each act will perform at least 3 Morrissey/Smiths songs in their set on the night of Morrissey's 54th birthday.
The line up features some of Yorkshire's most fragrant acoustic acts including
Hungarian Lanterns (performing an entire set of Smiths/Mozzer tunes)
Golden Age Magicians
The Silver Darlings
Run Devil Run
The Bints
A bit about the headliners -
Hungarian Lanterns
'Bestowed their performance with a dark potent quality, although it was lightened by the comic sensibilities of lead vocalist Anthony J Brown, who combined the dark romanticism of Leonard Cohen with the droll humour of Morrissey' - Now Then
'Wry gentle sugar drops of songs bearing unexpected barbs that emerge to hook you when least expected. Let the melodies reel you in' - Four Rivers
'They possess a seemingly endless array of potent acoustic songs with instantly quotable wordplay' - bbc.co.uk
Named after a lyric in Leonard Cohen's 'Take This Waltz', Hungarian Lanterns are two (occasionally three if the stars align) besuited chaps playing acoustic guitar, mandolin and piano. Their music is poignant and full of melodic minor key tunes laced with evocative lyrics.
