Homespun, an album released last month which is the work of Dave Rotheray (guitarist with The Beautiful South) and female vocalist Sam Brown features a song entitled 'Days' which contains the following reference to the Smiths song 'Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now'

In 1984, god knows what you were miserable for
Cause that was livin' alright

Something along those lines anyway, I haven't got round to playing the album properley yet so can't recommend one way or the other, just thought you'd like to know this for your note pads.

I like the reference to the Auf Wiedersien Pet first series theme song, ah classic TV, the genius of Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.

I'll keep an ear out for that, A.K. I didn't mind Paul Heaton's solo album. I was expecting it to be pretty bad.

Is it the same Sam Brown, daugher of Joe, who had a hit with 'Stop'?

Yea thats the Sam Brown, going by her accent I assume she must be from Essex way. On Heatons solo album he worked with a couple of musicians from Joe Strummers band 'the mescaleros' which gave it a much looser feel compared to the souths music.
