Tommy Robinson admires Morrissey - interview

I have no idea why you folks are giving oxygen to Tommy. He's not a folk hero. He's a just a dude with a big mouth. Common as f***.

His goal is to protect children from being raped. Very uncommon since it's a common occurrence in England, it's almost legal now. Your country is completely f***ed up.

It's too funny reading the usual alt-right incels on here banging on about rape gangs again. Tommeh has not helped one iota in bringing even one rapist to justice. In fact, his racist live streaming has threatened the very trials of the very people whom we all want put away.
And let's not forget that when his (white) mates are up before the beak on paedophile charges, Tommeh couldn't give a row of buttons! It's almost as if Tommeh doesn't give a toss about rape victims, rather he's more concerned about promoting his own personal brand of Islamophobic race hate.
And are you right-wing incels not even the slightest bit aware of the utter hypocrisy of Tommeh's supporters attacking judges and police, the very same groups who have done so much to find, arrest, try, and convict gang rapists? Seriously, boys, do you not give these matters even the most cursory of thoughts before you post your hate-filled rubbish?

There are no right-wing incels. They normally look like brick shithouses. That would be the left. And if you're so convinced of what a wonderful job the police did, perhaps you should read this. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/...-truth-Rochdale-sex-gangs-breaks-silence.html

That's a yes then. Obviously any normal person would have protested at the thought of endorsing such horrific acts.
Did I? No. For your vivid imagination to see this as a Yes shows the very gullibility that Yaxley-Lennon trades upon so very lucratively and so cynically.
Anne Clwyd MP did more to expose child grooming gangs than you role model will ever do. Yaxley-Lennon admitted in court himself recently to seeing a BBC report on the issue long before going down the rabbit hole that has put him in jail....yet again.
Ann Clwyd exists on the salary the state gives her. Not from online begging bowls or handouts from Yank billionaire bigots, as @the Political Revolution mentioned earlier upon this thread.
Once again you show all too easily how your actual intellect's dwarfed by your ego. You really can't help yourself. Yet still you do....very much repeatedly to your detriment.

I didn't know it was a competition to address serious issues....As to begging bowls, that's up to individuals, it's a free world market economy. The far leftist's newspaper of choice the Guardian do a good job asking for the begging bowel every time you log on. You protest too much. Weakly.

Oh really.

"One day, I drove with a victim around the area where the men operated. On spotting a man emerging from a black 4 x 4, she suddenly covered her face with her hands. ‘He’s one of ’em who’s been abusing us. I’d recognise him anywhere,’ she said.

Later, back at the station, I did a check on the vehicle. Within minutes, I had a phone call from an officer who specialised in police corruption. Why had I just run that registration check, he asked.

After I’d explained, he told me: ‘Right, well, we have this person under surveillance. He’s a serving [police] officer, so let us deal with him, OK?’

This is why the likes of Tommy Robinson exists. Because of you and the left and your mentality.

"When I finally returned to work that September, I asked for an update.

‘Oh, yeah, they’ve warned a couple of the younger lads under the Child Abduction Act,’ a colleague told me.

No one had been charged, let alone convicted. I was devastated. All that work, and for what? It just didn’t make sense.

I tried to speak to my bosses about it, but hit a brick wall.

In hindsight, perhaps I should have looked more closely at current events. On July 7, 2005, four home-grown terrorists had exploded bombs in London, killing 52 people and injuring almost 800. The last entry on the Augusta database had been made on July 6 — and the operation had been shut down the following month."

Oh really, Hoffychops? Explain this then, please?

And would you care to explain to all of us here why did the founder of the EDL - one Stephen Yaxley Lennon - leave the party he himself founded? He claimed to have renounced far-right extermism and embraced Islam even (yeah, right!), but the truth was that allegations of child abuse - since proven - had arisen. Take your time explaining now. Do read this below, before you make yourself look a fool....yet again? o_O

"A senior member of the English Defence Leagure (EDL), a far-right group which has a long history of tirades that conflate Islam with terrorism, paedophilia and sharia – accusing Muslims of paedophilia on a generalised basis – has been sentenced to 17 years for the grooming and sexual abuse of a 10 year old girl.

Former co-founder, spokesperson and leader of the EDL, Tommy Robinson, alias Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, is also currently in prison. He was arrested for allegedly breaching the peace and incitement outside a court during an ongoing grooming trial. Robinson is already under a suspended sentence for committing contempt of court over a gang rape case heard in Canterbury last year.

The man sentenced for child abuse, who is also a member and contributor to several far-right social media groups, has been sentenced at the Old Bailey to 17 years after he sexually abused a schoolgirl.

He assaulted the young girl around 100 times over a five-year period, the court was told.

The court heard how Leigh McMillan, 46, from Milton Keynes, groomed his 10 year old victim with cigarettes and drugs before subjecting her to a “spiral of sexual abuse” during the mid-1990s.

McMillan attacked the girl as she lay on her mother’s bed and and warned: “You mustn’t tell your mum, she’d be really upset.”

Prosecutor Jane Carpenter told jurors the girl “felt as if every day was Groundhog Day” and described her own ordeal as a “spiral of abuse”. In a statement provided to the court, the girl described how she “had not had control” of her own life.

McMillan was arrested in September 2016 and convicted of three counts of indecent assault, two of indecency with a child and one of attempted rape following trial last month.

On Monday, the judge, recorder Bruce Houlder QC, jailed him for a total of 17 years.

“What you did was entirely devoid of any form of consent,” the judge said, describing how McMillan had “deprived her of a natural childhood”, “ruined her relationship with men” and left her with a “terrible legacy” of abuse due to his “warped and persistent attacks”.

He was jailed for a total of 17 years and also made subject to notification on the sex offenders’ register and a sexual harm prevention order indefinitely.

The anti-fascist group Hope Not Hate, which monitors the online activity of far-right groups such as EDL, described McMillan as a “senior member” of the organisation.

The group also said he was a “lead figure” in the EDL’s “Lee Rigby campaign – a campaign to use the soldier’s death for further hatred”.

Hope Not Hate also accused fellow EDL members of attempting to cover up McMillan’s abuse.

IMG_3905-1024x304.jpg

McMillan is a popular figure in the far right, so much so that a number of fellow far-right figures have been trying desperately to cover up the fact that he is a perpetrator of child abuse.

Another leader of the EDL, who was described as a “political prisoner” after being jailed for violence at a march had already been placed on the sex offenders register for downloading indecent images of children, back in 2010.

The far-right group launched a campaign to free Richard Price, co-ordinator of the West Midlands division of the EDL, after he was jailed for violent behaviour. But Price, 41, had been convicted in June 2010 of making four indecent images of children, and possessing cocaine and crack cocaine.

That conviction followed an earlier arrest in 2009 for public order offences believed to have been connected with EDL marches. Police were understood to have seized and analysed his computer, leading to the discovery of sexual images of children that he had downloaded. His home was also searched and the drugs were found.

Price admitted four counts of making indecent images of children and two charges of possessing cocaine when he appeared at Birmingham Crown Court. He was banned from owning a computer for a year, given a three-year community supervision order and ordered to sign on to the sex offenders register for five years.

When Price was jailed, EDL members launched a campaign urging supporters to write to the Prime Minister and MPs to try to “win justice for Richard Price, EDL”. ‘Tommy Robinson supported Price after he was convicted of child porn charges. Apparently, paedophilia is OK if it is an EDL member who is commiting the horrific crime. Later, Robinson hurriedly issued a statement to claim that Price has never been a leader of the EDL, forgetting that back in June 2010 he had published a statement on Facebook naming the management and amongst those names were Price’s, and he was credited for co-founding the group.

Last year, Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner, Mark Rowley, warned of the dangers of online extremism. He said the Finsbury Park attacker turned violent because of the content far-right posts from Tommy Robinson, the EDL and Britain First.Rowley said that Darren Osborne – an alcoholic, suicidal, “loner” – was vulnerable to radicalisation.

Rowley also said “There is “no doubt” that far-right material posted online by the likes of Tommy Robinson and Britain First drove the Finsbury Park terror attacker to target Muslims.”

He had grown to hate Muslims largely due his consumption of large amounts of online far-right material including, as evidenced at court, statements from former EDL leader Tommy Robinson, Britain First and others,” he told an event in London.

“Osborne had a ‘dysfunctional’ background and history of alcohol and drug abuse, and violence.

“There can be no doubt that the extremist rhetoric he consumed fed into his vulnerabilities and turned it into violence.”

Osborne, a father of four from Wales, was radicalised within weeks as he consumed far-right material after watching a BBC documentary on grooming gangs in Rochdale.

He hired a van and drove it from Cardiff to London, intending to massacre pro-Palestinian protesters before a security perimeter forced him to hunt for an alternative target. Osborne rammed the vehicle into a crowd of Muslim worshippers leaving mosques in Finsbury Park shortly after midnight on 19 June, killing a grandfather and injuring several others. He is currently serving a life sentence.

Giving a lecture last year at an event held by the Policy Exchange think-tank, Rowley revealed that four far-right terror plots had been foiled by the police since the Isis-inspired Westminster attack in March last year.

Robinson is widely known for his opportunist politicking, and his willingness to search for scapegoats, making social unity so much harder to achieve. Those toxic voices that are known for their divisive rhetoric have already used the terrible events of terrorism and the tragedies of others to stir up emotions and extend a socially corrosive brand of nationalism – the public peddling of indecency to their own pecuniary or political advantage. We need to take the media megaphone from those who use it to inflame social tensions, ethnic nationalism and drive rage-led ideologies.

I was harrassed by the charming Tommy Robinson in 2015 on Twitter. I told him to stop mithering me and to go peddle far-right myths elsewhere. He then designed a malicious meme that used my account photograph and details, claiming I had said that “child abuse is a far-right myth”, which of course is untrue. I didn’t mention child abuse or Rotherham at all, regardless of his claims. There was also an invitation on the meme for people to “let her know what you think of this” and details of my account were on there with the comment “she can be found here,” along with the photograph of me

The meme was circulated repeatedly by Britain First, the EDL, National Front, some UKIP groups, amongst others. As a consequence I received numerous death threats, threats of rape and a threat involving Combat 18, a neo-Nazi organisation, that is the armed branch of Blood and Honour. My crime? Simply being a Labour Party supporter and irritating Tommy Robinson by telling him to do one from my Twitter page.

It’s also possible that my involvement with the Rock Against Racism movement back in the eighties has marked my card. I did get beaten up by a big, brave National Front bloke wearing size 100 Doc Martins. I needed a good few stitches after he kicked me in the head, out of the blue. A few weeks later, I had a break in. Nothing was stolen but my flat was completely trashed, and someone had spray painted the wall with “we know where you live”. Some groups speak entirely in hateful cliches.

I involved the police, and reports were made to Facebook about Tommy Robinson’s nasty design by a police officer and others regarding the malicious content of the meme and concerns about my personal safety. Guess what? Facebook did not remove the meme or ban any of the posters. The meme wasn’t just malicious, nor did it compromise just my own safety – my children also received threats – and it was illegal, too.

Big brave Robinson didn’t have the courage to own up, though. He told police that there were “other people” who post on his social media accounts, and it “wasn’t” him that designed and posted the meme.

“This contempt hearing is not about free speech. This is not about freedom of the press. This is not about legitimate journalism; this is not about political correctness; this is not about whether one political viewpoint is right or another. It is about justice, and it is about ensuring that a trial can be carried out justly and fairly. It is about ensuring that a jury are not in any way inhibited from carrying out their important function. It is about being innocent until proven guilty. It is not about people prejudging a situation and going round to that court and publishing material, whether in print or online, referring to defendants as “Muslim paedophile rapists”.

“A legitimate journalist would not be able to do that and under the strict liability rule there would be no defence to publication in those terms. It is pejorative language which prejudges the case, and it is language and reporting – if reporting indeed is what it is – that could have had the effect of substantially derailing the trial. As I have already indicated, because of what I knew was going on I had to take avoiding action to make sure that the integrity of this trial was preserved, that justice was preserved and that the trial could continue to completion without people being intimidated into reaching conclusions about it, or into being affected by “irresponsible and inaccurate reporting.

“If something of the nature of that which you put out on social media had been put into the mainstream press I would have been faced with applications from the defence advocates concerned, I have no doubt, to either say something specific to the jury, or worse, to abandon the trial and to start again. That is the kind of thing that actions such as these can and do have, and that is why you have been dealt with in the way in which you have and why I am dealing with this case with the seriousness which I am.”"

Here's another one showing the utter hyprocrisy of our judicial betters.

"An Islamic teacher who molested a girl as he taught her the Koran HAS AVOIDED PRISON after claiming his family was dependent on him because his wife speaks “very little English”.

Suleman Maknojioa, 40, repeatedly rubbed the 11-year-old’s leg and reached underneath her headscarf to touch her chest while giving her and her two brothers private tuition in Arabic.

Maknojioa was said to have “favoured” the girl and believed the touching was “appropriate” to reassure her."

A flippant way of denying that other deserve more credit than you want to admit? Of course. Here's those within his ranks the SYL and his 'Cameraphone Of Justice' failed to film, while trousering the donations gullible types like yourself dutifully send him:

"Tommy Robinson once again finds himself in prison greys. Having plead guilty to contempt of court charges on Friday, he was sentenced to 9 months behind bars. Robinson was arrested outside a court in Leeds where a child grooming case was taking place. He’d been breaching reporting restrictions by livestreaming his attempts to speak to the defendants.

Robinson has a track record of interrupting trials. A few months before in Canterbury, a judge warned him: “In short, Mr. Yaxley-Lennon [Tommy Robinson], turn up at another court, refer to people as ‘Muslim paedophiles, Muslim rapists’ and so on and so forth while trials are ongoing and before there has been a finding by a jury that that is what they are, and you will find yourself inside. Do you understand?”

The idea behind reporting restrictions is that they can be used by a judge to prevent coverage of the trial prejudicing the decisions of the jury, which would cause a mistrial. An application from the defense for a mistrial could mean the whole trial having to start again with a new jury.

Having been through the judicial system himself a few times, Robinson knows this. But he still chose to make a tit out of himself to get some easy publicity and a handful more social media likes. Now, rather than the story focusing on the abused children, he’s at the centre playing the victim. If he really cared about the damage done here, he wouldn’t undermine the trials of child abusers. As usual, he’s using the suffering of others to advance his own career.

And maybe, if he’s so interested in targeting abusers, he could start with his mates. Richard Price was a leading member of the English Defence League (EDL). In 2011, after he was nicked on a demo, police raided Price’s home. They found child pornography. Tommy Robinson rushed to his now-convicted mate’s defence, claiming he had no idea how the pictures got onto his computer.

Price isn’t the only one. Take Kristopher Allan, a member of the Scottish Defence League who chanted ‘Allah is a paedo’ one minute and was convicted of sexual contact with a 13-year-old the next. Or John Broomfield, ‘Regional Commanding Officer’ of Britain First, who too was found guilty of having child pornography on his computer. The far-right are up to their necks in the sexual abuse of children.

The reality is that child sexual abuse is a horrific problem that is too important to be left to far-right muppets like Robinson. If you actually look at the data, it shows the ethnicities of people convicted of sexual contact with children are pretty much the same as the ethnicity mix of the UK.

With the UK welfare system falling apart as a result of austerity, vulnerable working class children are falling through the gaps and ending up becoming victims of systematic abuse. These trials are about how the state has failed working class children – not about race or religion. Not only do Robinson’s antics risk the convictions of rapists in actual trials, but his constant finger-pointing at Islam as the sole motivating or enabling factor in these cases runs the risk of allowing those in authority who should have acted earlier off the hook. He’s building an alibi for the guilty.

It’s the same with the Football Lads Alliance (FLA). Their organisation, founded last year, was meant to be about showing a united front against terrorism. And doubtless some people on its first demos did just care about terrorism. No one likes the Salafists who bomb concerts packed with kids, throw gay people off buildings, keep women as sex slaves and behead hostages.

That’s why left wingers from across the world have volunteered with the International Freedom Battalion, a military organisation within the Syrian Democratic Forces that took the fight to Isis rather than drinking tinnies in a town centre and shouting about Muslims. Unfortunately, some of these heroes have been arrested as a result – but the FLA did nothing about it. The only solutions they seem to offer are to give the state more powers to arrest and detain Muslims. But the state is best mates with Saudi Arabia, the main source of Salafist ideology, and has formed alliance after alliance with jihadis as part of UK foreign policy. If they get more powers, they’ll only use them to sell more weapons.

A large part of the FLA was always far-right, and care more about promoting hate than they do remembering victims. That’s why Dan Hett, brother of one of the victims of the Manchester attack last year, joined a counter demonstration to their last pissed-up remembrance in the city. As he said: “No class. No respect. Not welcome.”

Even on their favourite issue of all, free speech, the far-right don’t really give a shit. Robinson and the FLA are always on about how much they love free speech. It’s become the favourite slogan of a section of the right. But if they care so much about it, why do they attack speakers’ corner veterans and Muslim bloggers?

On every issue, the far-right are talking out their arses. They don’t care about preventing child abuse, fighting terrorism or protecting free speech. They care about finding scapegoats and pushing their divisive agenda. They look at all the problems facing the UK in 2018 – falling wages, insecure work, bad housing, failing public services – and then blame people of different religions and skin colours. They let the state totally off the hook. And all the while our real enemies, bosses and landlords, keep on getting richer."four

Stupid fooking name.

Well done Tommy on increasing his support by getting sentenced. Sweden is the new North Korea but it seems the UK is catching up.

Have a nice rest in there Tommy and think about your support of the jews and if it is working for you.

I'm not saying he's a perfect human being but i don't believe he's doing all this for the money either. Why would any human being put themselves through everything he goes through. I wouldn't. You wouldn't. "On every issue, the far-right are talking out their arses. They don’t care about preventing child abuse, fighting terrorism or protecting free speech".......I think that's bollocks....just because they didn't go to Syria to fight ISIS (which in my mind, was a noble and brave decision for the most part, though some did go for their own reasons, having seen a documentary about someone who did volunteer). I won't disagree that some followers are boozed up lads out for a scrap and don't give a great account of themselves but they're no worse than the likes of Antifa or the far-left. Speakers Corner is a virtual breeding ground for Islam these days, often inflamatory. The days of the little old east ender getting up and sprouting off is long gone. The proof is all on utube. I'm no fan of any of our major political partys and am just as critical of them in their policies as I am of any radical extremist. As to an divisive agenda......that will happen when you see and realize that the lie of multi-culturilism, to a large degree has failed. People aren't stupid.

That is....a bit of a mess. Way too much cutting and pasting. You were the one that got beaten up?

Interesting how Tommy is now locked up again whereas not one person has ever been convicted for the official silencing of the Muslim grooming rapes that went on for decades. The authorities knew full well but preferred 'community cohesion' to justice for the thousands of white girls that were (and still are) being used as meat. The BNPs Nick Griffin was whistleblowing about it since the 90s and they called him a liar and a racist and tried to imprison him for it. Hundreds of people in positions of power conspired to keep it a secret, yet nobody has been prosecuted for this mass crime.

Awwww. Poor you. Yet another weak and woeful way of saying you can't deal with stone-cold facts whenever they're placed in your face, Hoffychops? Absolutely. Excuses that are limper that one month-old lettuce are always the stock response of those like you. Those who hate being told that which you and your sorrowful ilk know fully well that disproves the division that you wish to promote. Here's a comprehensive breakdown of who commits the majority of child abuse within the UK from an independent fact-checking charity. Plenty of the information contained is free available on UK Govt. sites. Others were gleaned from Freedom Of Information requests made., to give a more rounded view of the issue in question.
Fash fanboys like you like the waters surrounding this issue to stay well muddied. The informantion provided below clears up plenty and no matter how hard you try, cannot be dismissed not brushed aside so easily. Spoiler alert: they are not Muslim.

What do we know about the ethnicity of people involved in sexual offences against children?

In brief:

Claim
Nearly 90% of those convicted of wider child abuse offences and on the sex offenders register are white men.

Conclusion
There isn’t much publicly available information on this. The data we do have shows a large majority of those convicted of sexual offences (no matter the age of the victim) are white.

Claim 1 of 2

“Yes Pakistani men are disproportionately involved in grooming gangs and this particular model of abuse. And no that is not a racist statement. Neither is it racist to say that when it comes to wider child abuse nearly 90 per cent of those convicted and on the sex offenders register are white men.”

Naz Shah MP, 12 August 2017

Following the high profile conviction of eighteen people in Newcastle found guilty of a catalogue of offences including rape and conspiracy to incite prostitution there has been a lot of discussion in the media about so-called grooming gangs. In particular there has been a lot of debate over what role, if any, ethnicity and cultural backgrounds play in both grooming and child sex offences more widely.

The information we have about this is patchy and has a lot of problems. It also tends to focus on England and Wales rather than the whole of the UK. Studies on those involved in grooming children do suggest that a disproportionate number of offenders are categorised as being of Asian ethnicity. The proportion of offenders or suspected offenders varies from study to study, but was anywhere from 27% to 75% in the studies we looked at. These studies all vary slightly in the way they analyse the offenders and suspected offenders and the level of response they received from child protection agencies across the country.

The government told us that it doesn’t routinely publish information on the ethnicity of people convicted of wider sexual offences. What is available suggests that the majority of offenders are white.

In the overall population of England and Wales 86% of people were white in 2011 (at the last census), 8% of the population was of Asian ethnicity, and 3% was black. Of course this will vary from place to place around the country.

Researchers point out that the disproportionate representation of people of Asian ethnicity in studies on grooming gangs may be caused by a number of things including: bias in the collecting of information, the high profile nature of similar cases, and small sample sizes. This might mean, for example, that when recording information about offenders or suspected offenders, the organisations involved are more likely to record ethnicity if the person is Asian. Or it might mean that, because they had seem similar cases in the media, child protection organisations look out for specific types and patterns of grooming and abuse more than others leading to similar types of groups being caught.

A large proportion of cases in these studies also have the ethnicity of the offender recorded as unknown, so this could potentially affect the reliability of the information on ethnicities that we do know. In many of the cases no more information was known other than that the offender was described as Asian. This could cover a wide variety of ethnicities and nationalities like Chinese, Pakistani, Indian as well as a range of British-Asian ethnicities, depending on the study.

Problems with the data on grooming gangs
There were over 1,200 cases of sexual grooming recorded by police in England and Wales in 2016/17. The scale of this, and other sexual offences against children, is difficult to measure as in many cases it goes unreported.

Naz Shah’s office pointed us towards research done by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP) and Office of the Children’s Commissioner as the source of her claim that a disproportionate number of Pakistani men were involved in grooming gangs.

In 2011 CEOP published an analysis of possible offenders who had been reported to it for “street grooming and child sexual exploitation”. CEOP said that offenders in these cases often act in groups.

It analysed over 1,200 of these possible offenders and found the vast majority were male. Around 30% were white, 28% Asian and 3% black and 38% were unknown. When CEOP looked only at a group of around 940 offenders that it had better information for it found around 38% were white, 32% were unknown, 26% were Asian and 3% were black.

At first glance this would seem to suggest that the group identified as Asian are overrepresented (compared to the proportion of Asian people in the general population) but CEOP said that the data was too inconsistent to draw “national conclusions” from. It said more research was needed to see whether the results were affected by “unconscious bias” in child protection agencies, the demographics of local areas or if there were issues in the community that needed to be addressed.

Another study by CEOP from 2013 looked at data collected from 31 police forces. It found that of around 300 offenders whose ethnicity was provided and who were part of groups targeting children based on their vulnerability (rather than because they had a specific sexual interest in children), 75% had been categorised as Asian and 17% as white, 5% were listed as black and 3% as Arab. Of the groups who did target children based on a sexual interest in them (fewer than 20 people studied) all were white.

In this case CEOP said that the sample size was too small and more research needed to be done. The National Crime Agency (which CEOP is part of) told us that it hadn’t published any research into the specific issue of gangs and grooming more recently.

High profile grooming cases can mean that professionals involved in child protection can look out for specific types and patterns of abuse more than others, according to the Office of the Children’s Commissioner in 2012.

It also said that in some cases organisations were more likely to record the ethnicity of a suspect if they were a particular ethnicity or nationality—for example if they were Asian.

The data it had collected was based on the reports of victims. It found that 36% of perpetrators of child sexual exploitation in gangs or groups were white, 27% Asian, 16% black and 16% not disclosed.

We’ve looked at this issue in the past following other high profile trials for child grooming.

Little information is available on the ethnicity of those convicted of sexual offences against children more widely
Naz Shah’s office pointed us towards several newspaper articles written by Nazir Afzal, former Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), as the source of her statement that nearly 90% of people convicted of child abuse offences were white men. Mr Afzal had said that between 80% and 95% of offenders were white males.

We contacted the CPS who provided us with the information they publish on defendants in child sex abuse cases. 98% of defendants were male in 2015/16, but no information about the ethnicity of the defendants was published. We then submitted a freedom of information request to the CPS asking for information on the ethnicity of defendants prosecuted in child sex abuse cases.

It provided us with data on the number of defendants prosecuted for sex offences in cases flagged as relating to child abuse in 2015/16. It also included the ethnicity of those defendants.

Of the 6,200 or so defendants in these prosecutions, 67% were white, 4% were Asian, 3% were black, 1% were mixed race and 1% were other. For 24% of defendant’s there was no information on their ethnicity. Of all these prosecutions, around three quarters resulted in a conviction.

The information on defendant’s ethnicity came from information given by the defendants to police, the CPS told us that “It follows that there may be errors or omissions at local levels”.

There are other figures published by the government on those found guilty of offences against children, but these aren’t as recent. Almost 85% of offenders found guilty of sexual activity with a minor in England and Wales in 2011 were white. 3% were black and 4% were Asian and the rest were either listed as ‘other’ or unknown.

But these figures don’t tell us everything about sexual offences committed against children. For example, if someone is found guilty of raping a child under the age of 16, this will appear in the figures under ‘rape’ rather than ‘sexual activity with a minor’.

Where offenders’ ethnicity was known, 81% of people convicted of sexual offences in 2014 were white, 7% were black and 9% were Asian in 2014. These proportions were similar over the previous four years. The government told us it doesn’t regularly publish information on the ethnicity of those found guilty of sexual offences so there is no more recent information.
