Well, since I'm probably the only one that really saw this movie that actually comes to this website regularly; I thought I'd submit my first story in review format. This is my first submission, so be gentle.

The theater showing "Louder Than Bombs" at Brewvies in Salt Lake City, Utah contained approximately twenty people. All of the movie-goers were sat in the back of the theater (I'm very descriptive due to the fact that these are lean times in Morrissey news, so bear with me). I sat towards the front, smack dab in the middle. And lo and behold, guess who I saw...? Not Morrissey! (joke)

Anyway, the movie. In no way can one be fooled, the director (Przemek Wojcieszek) of this movie is obviously a Morrissey/Smiths fan. From the opening sequence, which is one of the best I've ever seen by the way, you know right away this guy digs Morrissey (pardon the pun). There are Moz/Smiths references dropped all over the place, which was nice but as a Moz/Smiths fan, it was a bit distracting to the movie. I found myself getting very neurotic about finding every little possible Smiths/Moz reference. But that's not Przemek Wojcieszek's fault, I'm neurotic anyway. It comes with the territory. Beside the fact that the whole movie was in POLISH, it was quite the little jewel.

I was surprised to see a seemingly depressed and bitter person make a pleasant and insightful, not to mention, positive movie. Now, that's not to say that the entire movie was positive, but just that I left the movie feeling better than before, which I can't usually say for Morrissey's music. Martin Scorsese once said, "A good movie will change your life." Well, I'm here to tell you that 'Louder Than Bombs' changed my life. It is definitely a must-see, especially for a Moz/Smiths fan. I do wish, though, that the soundtrack included at least one Moz/Smiths song (in English), but alas, not. Nevertheless, a great soundtrack.

The lead female character, played by Sylwia Jusczak was absolutely gorgeous and divine. I fell in love. The lead male character, played by Rafal Mackowiak is also worth mentioning. What, I'm not sure, but he did a good job I suppose. The cinematography was of course a bit dark, and it also reminded me of what Manchester, England would look like. If so, remind me never to go to Manchester. Anyway, a good little independent film, I hope to see more from Przemek Wojcieszek. Out of five stars, I give it a generous four stars (well, it IS an independent film). See this movie, you won't be sorry. An excellent snippet that I withdrew from the movie and applied to my own life was the line something to the effect of, "I've made a resolution to be decisive from now on." Which, I totally love. Great line, great idea. It's my new thing. Isn't life grand?

Hey what's up, my name's Stephanie. I'm the drummer of Girls In A Coma, and I just thought I'd write and let you all know we're a new all girl band from San Antonio. We're obviously Smiths and Morrissey influenced but we write original music. Watch out for us cause we're a self promoted band and might be heading to a town near you in a little bus we bought and fixed up ourselves. Just watch for the bus with "Girls In A Coma" in pink on the side...

Question 411:
I couple of days ago i read your notes around "Miserablism", which I Love, on the new edition of "Behaviour". I think this song is not the only one related with the Morrisey persona: "How can you ..." is near to the acussing lyrics of "We hate when our friends become succesful" of Morrisey's Your Arsenal (92). Also, is not coincidence that Electronic accepts "Getting away with it", basically for the past of Johny Marr... What you think about that? p.s. I don't like "Disco Potential" but I prefer it than Bono impersonating Pet Shop Boys sound on "Discotheque". Well, a "pure rock band" doing "Elevation" is very decadent, don't you find?

Answer:
I thought "Discoteque" wasn't great. I like "One", though. Don't think there's any Morrissey link to HCYETBTS but "Getting away with it" I imagined being sung from Morrissey's point of view. Of course, I didn't write all the lyrics, Bernard wrote some. Neil Tennant

The cheesily chart challenge is a regular part of those cheeky Manc's Mark and Lard's show (Radio 1). Listeners are asked to choose a song related to a bizarre news story. "Everyday Is Like Sunday" was related to the story of a man in an American coastal town, who woke up to discover that the town was deserted after the September 11th terrorist attacks. Quite a clever choice I thought!

There was a half an hour documentary on the state of the British transport system. To my surprise they played the Smiths classic 'Panic' over a clip showing disgruntled passengers. Very ironic and a pleasant surprise at that time in the morning.
