Do most Morrissey fans really lean towards the atheist route? I hadn't noticed. This leads me to - How many people who post here are atheists? And how many are not? Ta! for any replies.

I'm an evangelical atheist.

Being gullible and credulous are bad things, and yet society has us believe it's OK to be that way in just one area - religion. I can respect agnostics as rational, but faith is completely irrational.

Yes, exactly. I'm an atheist also. Maybe more Moz fans are atheists then I thought? Then again maybe not.

Completely agree.

MY RESPONSE (thanks to Michael Stipe)

I can't say that I love Jesus
that would be a hollow claim.
He did make some observations
and I'm quoting them today.
"Judge not lest ye be judged."
what a beautiful refrain.

I'll face the consequences

Of course, logically, I can't say I'm an atheist. I have to claim agnosticism. But my personal feelings, well, who cares? Those of you looking for validation of atheistic/agnostic beliefs should read Bertrand Russell. You'll learn many logical arguments you can throw in the face of any uneducated deist.

Sorry everyone, not atheist. Not religious fanatic either, in fact all organized religion have come in contact with turns my stummy. As far as a "GOD", that's easy to beleive in.

Re: Moz fans and religion poll

Same here, Leroy. I'm a God-believer, yet not a religious fanatic. I think the religious fanatics give the Christian faith a bad name, and actually drive people away from seeking a relationship with God. After all, a lot of them make it seem as though God hates us. Who wants to believe in a God who wants to condemn us all the time and eventually send us to hell after we die!? Sheesh!!

It's been 2,000 years. Where is he?

When I was 12, the idea of the Armageddon frightened me because I wanted to experience a real human life. I wanted kids and I wanted to see what would happen to me when I became an adult.

If this is the best it gets, I'm not impressed.

Like most matters in my life, I'm too wishy washy to make a decision; therefore, mark me down as agnostic. I don't discount the notion that there may be some power driving the universe, I just have trouble giving any credit to the myths behind the world's religions.

> Morrissey won't get you into heaven

On the contrary. He sends me to heaven whenever I hear his voice, and that's good enough for me.

Who cares if it's irrational? Nobody ever said it was supposed to be rational. it's harmless, anyway. The old myths are beautiful and give people comfort. I'm not religious or spiritual myself, but nothing is stupider than attacking people for their faith. Life is too short for that.

And learn to tell the difference between the *church* as a (sometimes bad) political entity and *religion* as a personal experience that should be respected.

As a great atheist once said, let a thousand flowers bloom ...
