American nationalism !

I find it kinda funny to read all those posts about people from Mexico and other latinamerican countries invading the USA and making everything worse for the poor americans.

Hmmmmmmmm.......

It seems like people from the USA indeed suffer a general nationwide lack of
selfesteem. I don`t know if it`s after the 11.th or if it`s because the bad echonomy - but it seems like american arrogance and national pride is increasing and escalating to an exaggerated level. What are you afraid of?

I know there`s a lot of american Morrissey and Smiths fans - and I think those
fans should be happy and proud that he chose to live in your country.

Unfortunately he lost his creativity completely moving to California, getting Lazy and sunburned - maybe the "american way" or the "american dream" takes away the creativity of artists? I could easily, unfortunately, imagine Morrissey in Walmart or K-Mart or whatever you call it, buying his mineralwater and fruits and vegetables, carrying his little basket as the true american consumist.

I think it`s sad ! I think he should get back to London in a hurry and regain his creativity and finally make an album !

Here in Europe he is indeed losing respect and credit as an artist because of his lazyness and bad attitude towards his fans.

But I guess there`s more money in the USA than in Europe for a artist in the autumn of his career. Reminds me of Elvis in 76-77 where all he could was playing 45 minutes for the popcorn eating american families.

Well - back to the topic. I indeed find it weird that people in this forum from the USA, the biggest european colony, feel that threat of people from Mexico.

Who is invading the whole world with it`s fake, plastic, superficial consumer hell of Mcdonalds, Burger King, Hooters, Coca cola and Britney Spears ?

If any of you americans ever been in Mexico you will discover that the worst thing about the country is the americanisation !

But I`m sure that you are happy about all the money you earn from Mexico - making them work for nothing in your multinational companies?

Did you know that Mexico is the 2nd most coca cola drinking country in the world?

well - if you wanna see a threat, a real threath (I guess you discovered it the 11th) go to europe and see how WE are invaded by the muslims !

People from Mexico are harmless towards them and besides that, Mexico is a part of the same civilisation as americans - both of you are frankly - Europeans!

If you're basing those assumptions on this message board, then I can assure you this is not indicative of all of us American citizens.

Moz's moving to the US should hardly be a source of pride for an American - there are so many OTHER things to be proud of! :p

What about all the artists who are actually FROM America?

Walmart and K-Mart do not carry produce. Well, maybe the "Super" Walmart does...

carrying

This is a bit of an odd thing to chastize the man about. Is shopping for groceries a predominantly American phenomenon?

How do YOU buy your food?

I believe he's already recorded an album (I can't keep up with the rumor mill, so this may just be hearsay).

That sentiment is not only soley shared by European fans - some American fans would agree with you there.

Sure...if he PRODUCES something.

Popcorn-eating American families??
What does that even MEAN?

In case you're not aware, the US is no longer a European colony and when we WERE, the little New England grouping of 13 colonies was hardly "the biggest."

Who's threatened?

Gee, THAT'S original.
Shall I retort by saying "we won the war, England?"

I don't know where you're from, but try take a look into your own country's closet. You may be surprised by what you find.

So, by this statement, you've established to us that Mexicans enjoy drinking Coke.

Where do you currently reside?

No, we're North Americans. Pick up a Geography book.

could you stereotype America a little more? Be that as it may, I do agree with you about the Muslims invading Europe, especially Germany, and that is a much bigger threat than Mexicans.

> If you're basing those assumptions on this message board, then I can

I NEVER SAID THAT - BUT A LOT OF AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE USING THIS MESSAGE BOARD TO SHOW THEIR LACK OF RESPECT TOWARDS PEOPLE FROM MEXICO AND OTHER LATINAMERICAN COUNTRIES - WHICH I THINK IS PATHETIC AND BASICALLY RACISM.

> Moz's moving to the US should hardly be a source of pride for an American

SURE - THATS NOT THE TOPIC !

> What about all the artists who are actually FROM America?

WHO? BRITNEY? BACKSTREET BOYS? WAKE UP - JIM MORRISON IS DEAD !

NO - BUT THE WAY YOU SHOP IS A VERY AMERICAN PHENOMENON.

> How do YOU buy your food?

WITH RATIONALISM AND WITHOUT 4 LITERS OF COKE, 5 DONUTS AND ALL THAT INDEED
FATTENING FOOD. DONT DENY THAT 50 % OF ALL AMERICANS ARE OVERWEIGHT - MUST BE
BECAUSE OF THE FOOD HABITS RIGHT? MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE WAY YOU SHOP !

> I believe he's already recorded an album (I can't keep up with the rumor

THIS IS HIS LEAST PRODUCTIVE PERIOD - MIGHT HAVE TO DO WITH SOMETHING.

GLAD TO HEAR THAT.

> Sure...if he PRODUCES something.

> Popcorn-eating American families??
> What does that even MEAN?

AHHHHHH. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT ELVIS BECAME A FAMILY ATTRACTION IN THE END OF HIS CAREER. FAMILIES WENT TO SEE HIM - INBETWEEN THE SONGS THEY WERE BABBLING ABOUT THE WEATHER AND HAVING HOTDOGS AND POPCORN. NO RESPECT TO THE MAN OR THE MUSIC - JUST LIKE GOING TO THE MOVIES.

> In case you're not aware, the US is no longer a European colony and when
> we WERE, the little New England grouping of 13 colonies was hardly

WELL - IF IT WASNT FOR EUROPEANS - YOU WOULD STILL BE INDIANS. SO THE AMERICAN "RACE" IS BASICALLY EUROPEAN - RIGHT?

> Who's threatened?

TOO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS FORUM TALK BAD ABOUT HARMLESS PEOPLE. TOO MANY PEOPLE ARE INDEED RACISTS TOWARDS PEOPLE WHO MORE OR LESS BELONG TO THEIR OWN RACE. IT`S PATHETIC AND NATIONALISTIC !

> Gee, THAT'S original.
> Shall I retort by saying "we won the war, England?"

> I don't know where you're from, but try take a look into your own

INDEED. EVERY COUNTRY HAS ITS CLOSETS FILLED WITH SKELETONS.
YOU CAN MEASURE A CIVILISATION UPON MANY THINGS - I ALWAYS SAW
AMERICA AS A FREE DEMOCRATIC COUNTRY - THATS WHY I GET SAD WHEN I SEE
THIS NATINALISM AND "PROTECTION" TOWARDS OTHER PEOPLE / RACES. ESPECIALLY
IN THE LIGHT OF THE AMERICANISATION GOING ON ALL OVER.

> So, by this statement, you've established to us that Mexicans enjoy

> Where do you currently reside?

WHY DO THEY DRINK COKE? YOU TOUGHT THEM WITH YOUR MARKETING APPARATUS.
DO AMERICA EARN MONEY ON MEXICO? INDEED ! DO MEXICANS DESERVE TO BE TREATED LIKE SHIT? DO AMERICANS GET TREATED LIKE SHIT WHEN THEY GO TO PARIS AND SEE LOUVRE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND LITTLE DANNY-BOY AT 15 SAYS "IS THAT A VIDEOGAME ARCADE"?

> No, we're North Americans. Pick up a Geography book.

YOUR RACE IS EUROPEAN ! YOU USED TO BE INDIANS - BUT SINCE WE DISCOVERED YOU
YOU ARE BASICALLY EUROPEANS IN ANOTHER LOCATION. IN ALL DUE RESPECT !

> I NEVER SAID THAT - BUT A LOT OF AMERICAN PEOPLE ARE USING THIS MESSAGE
> BOARD TO SHOW THEIR LACK OF RESPECT TOWARDS PEOPLE FROM MEXICO AND OTHER

First of all, PLEASE TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK BUTTON OFF; it's perceived as yelling and it is rude.

> SURE - THATS NOT THE TOPIC !

No, the topic is that you think Americans treat Mexicans poorly. But then you go on different tangents and make all these unfair generalizations of Americans that have nothing to do with Mexicans. I'm just debating you.

> WHO? BRITNEY? BACKSTREET BOYS? WAKE UP - JIM MORRISON IS DEAD !

Your histrory of American music seems to be based solely on the past 10 years. Are you seriously trying to tell me that America has not produced a single worthy artist in its entire history?

...and don't get me started on the whole "who invented rock and roll" debate; that would be sinking to your level.

> NO - BUT THE WAY YOU SHOP IS A VERY AMERICAN PHENOMENON.

I'm still not getting it. What's phenomenal about it? Do you not use shopping carts and pay for your purchases at a cash register?

> WITH RATIONALISM AND WITHOUT 4 LITERS OF COKE, 5 DONUTS AND ALL THAT
> INDEED
> FATTENING FOOD.

I don't drink soda and I certainly don't make enough money to stuff my cupbords with such throwaway fare as donuts. Generalizing again.

> DONT DENY THAT 50 % OF ALL AMERICANS ARE OVERWEIGHT -

I will agree that America has a large percentage of obese individuals. Forgive me if I don't hold your "50%" as accurate.

> MUST
> BE
> BECAUSE OF THE FOOD HABITS RIGHT?

Indeed; fast food was born here.

> MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE WAY
> YOU SHOP !

For S*O*M*E people, yes.

> THIS IS HIS LEAST PRODUCTIVE PERIOD - MIGHT HAVE TO DO WITH SOMETHING.

What makes you so sure that simply moving to America is to blame for Morrissey's lack of production?

Actually, maybe it IS. Maybe - for once - he's decided to sit back and relax and enjoy some down-time, for a change. And what with the beautiful weather and warm, sunny disposition (or so I hear) of California, I wouldn't blame him.

But then, you don't blame him - you blame, once again, America. And, by the way, this tangent has nothing to do with Mexicans.

> AHHHHHH. EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT ELVIS BECAME A FAMILY ATTRACTION IN THE END
> OF HIS CAREER.

What, like a circus side-show freak?

> FAMILIES WENT TO SEE HIM - INBETWEEN THE SONGS THEY WERE
> BABBLING ABOUT THE WEATHER AND HAVING HOTDOGS AND POPCORN. NO RESPECT TO

If Elvis was perceived as "family entertainment," then I'm sure he was also perceived as such in your precious Europe.

> WELL - IF IT WASNT FOR EUROPEANS - YOU WOULD STILL BE INDIANS.

If you want to play THAT game, then I could turn it around and say, if it wasn't for Europeans, there would still be Indians.

Talk about treating people like shit...

> SO THE
> AMERICAN "RACE" IS BASICALLY EUROPEAN - RIGHT?

The American nationality (I refuse to use "race" because we all are members of the HUMAN race) is based on many different countries, religions and ethnic backgrounds.

But when you are born here or become a citizen here, you are an American.

> TOO MANY PEOPLE IN THIS FORUM TALK BAD ABOUT HARMLESS PEOPLE. TOO MANY

It is, isn't it?

So move to France; I hear they've basically banned American influence there.

> WHY DO THEY DRINK COKE?

Because they like the taste of it?

> YOU TOUGHT THEM WITH YOUR MARKETING APPARATUS.

Then blame the Mexicans who drink it for being mindless sheep. Marketing is hardly an American-only practice.

> DO AMERICA EARN MONEY ON MEXICO? INDEED !

No argument here.

> DO MEXICANS DESERVE TO BE
> TREATED LIKE SHIT?

No one deserves to be treated like shit. But many people are. From many people.

> DO AMERICANS GET TREATED LIKE SHIT WHEN THEY GO TO

From what I hear, most definitely.

My race is human.

I used to be a fetus.

> BUT SINCE WE DISCOVERED YOU

Who's "we?" Are you a descendent of Columbus or the Vikings?

I have to laugh when people use the term "discover" - as if the continent did not exist until some adventurers in boats accidentally bumped into Newfoundland.

> YOU ARE BASICALLY EUROPEANS IN ANOTHER LOCATION. IN ALL DUE RESPECT !

Maybe we are all just Africans in another location - wasn't the earliest human found there?

So much for Roddenberry's vision. America is stuck between Orwell and Hawthorne. Now as far as Europe is concerned...

How about Roddenberry's vision for woman? Can Captain Kirk sexually harass the women of his space ship anymore and those mini's are a definate fashion no no in todays workplace.

BRAVO, BRAVO! Lifeguardsleeping! There IS a voice of reason and real intelligence on this board.

> How about Roddenberry's vision for woman? Can Captain Kirk sexually harass

Wasn't Rodenberry's fault. His original plan had a woman second in command. The network execs said try again. They rehash the original pilot in the episode "The Menagerie" with Majel Barrett playing "No. 1". She snuck back in as "Nurse" Chapel in the reconfigured cast, even though her character had a doctorate degree.

Not to mention Uhura. Made some history with her character.

As far as Kirk goes...well it's not like he raped them. Besides, a guy needs a chance to unwind after saving the universe. Anyways, there was some gay thing going on there between McCoy and Spock that overshadowed anything Kirk ever did.

f*** all of your liberal cry baby bullshit.

What we are "afraid" of is every town in America turning into a Mexican shit hole. Hey, I don't mind if they want to come here. Heck, they are human too. But, follow the procedures and shut the hell up, or stay over there.

It makes me sick when I drive down areas that used to be nice, but now are infested with illegal aliens, popping out babies like it's going out of style and then ripping everyone else off through manipulation of the welfare system.

Oh, then there's the wonderful, "Well, California used to belong to us..." Keyword there is "used to." It's not anymore, so don't try to stink up our state with your bullshit.

I know a bunch of Mexican people that down whine or complain about how "the white man does this and that" or about "how California is really theirs," instead, they came here legally, worked hard (they had nothing) and now are established citizens makeing a hell of a lot more money than I am.

What? He should be so lucky that we let his biatch ass in here.

Can't argue with you here.

Again, more whining from the past. We stopped being European once we won the Revolucionary War. Let it go dude and face reality.

The funny thing is, to someone, somewhere, you would vurtually represent the exact same thing you mindlessly hate.
