Article: "Morrissey Fansite Founder Responds to Alleged Threats" - Yahoo Music; Statement and TMZ Li

Interesting comment on TMZ (oh, the humanity) by a user who seemingly joined up just to post this:

"This security guard blackmails celebrities for money. Robin Gibb, Julia Roberts, George Boedecker, Jr.(Founder of Crocs)"

Steyn is credited for security on Julia Roberts movie Erin Brockovich.

Maybe this guy is a serial cash grabber.

Three Morrissey tours, though??

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

If someone is willing to pay, you can probably find something here (provided Steyn filed in L.A.):

Thanks, KL. I'm sure the documents* will turn up either on TMZ or the Smoking Gun eventually, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. As I said in another comment yesterday, the TMZ article is so deliberately vague that it sends up all kinds of red flags for me, and I'm kind of amazed (no I'm not) by how much of a storyline is being concocted here based on very little documented information.

EDIT: *assuming they actually exist

Yes, this is one of the more grueling aspects of modern celebrity: accusations are hurled, click media disseminates them widely, and the public at large registers the story for a nanosecond before moving on to something else. By the time the whole thing is sorted the conversation becomes: "Morrissey - isn't he the guy that tried to have a fan killed?"

This is why you need a good PR agent, and you need to follow their advice.

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

How long until Morrissey writes a really sucky song about David T?

Sorrow Will Come In The End, Part II?

David, the gun blows
The gun blows ...
Bits of your head away
Your friends all say ...
"Where is our boy ? Oh, we've lost our boy"
But they should know
Where you've gone
Because again and again you've explained that
You're going to ...

Oh, you're going to ...
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
"Web-based forum for the fans!
Web-based forum for the fans!"

David, the guns blow
The guns blow ...
All of my nightmares away
And I still say :
"Where is that boy ? Ha, we've lost that boy"
But I should know
Why you've gone
Because again and again you've explained
You've gone to the ...

Solo, ah ...
To the Solo ..
There's an internet; you don't live there
But one day you would like to
And if you show them what you're made of
Oh, then you might do ...

But David, we wonder
We wonder if the lawsuit
Is ever really gonna begin
Begin, begin
You lawyer says :
"I've lost my boy"
But she should know
Why you've gone
Because again and again you've explained
You've gone to the :

Solo
To the Solo
To the Morrisey-solo.com
Because you want the day to come sooner
You want the day to come sooner
You want the day to come sooner
When you've settled the score

Oh, the Solo
Oh, the Solo
Oh, the Solo
Oh, the Solo

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

Moz may very well have a good PR agent, but I don't think he ever actually ever really listens to anyone. Any lawyer with a brain in their head would have told him not to issue a public statement, but as Viscunti said, Morrissey cannot be handled.

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

Yes I am aware of that but davidT still has not been threatened. Granted it's not something you want to hear, but a post on TMZ where some guy says some other guy asked him to rub someone out is not a threat on your life. If he actually was threatened believe me he would know about it and there would be no grey area.

Conspiracy is a crime. If someone is conspiring to harm you (or has conspired to harm you), you have a legal course of action. Is this too difficult for you and others to understand?!

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

We have been presented with Hearsay, which is not evidence. Pay attention. You'll be graded on this later when you finally discover your head has been swimming in bullshit.

I think someone needs to review what "hearsay" is. If the statement in question was made directly to the individual who is claiming the statement is true (in this case, the bodyguard), it is not hearsay. Hearsay would be if the bodyguard said "Morrissey told Steve that Morrissey wanted me to hurt David". That would be Hearsay since it was not told directly to the bodyguard.

Educate. Yourself. Before. You. Speak. Ignorance is ugly!

This is all most impressive.
A few more threads like this and I'll be able to sit law exams.

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

Maybe because, despite having been told he's not welcome at shows and has been banned for life - Davis STILL keeps trying to sneak in? Maybe they thought if they gave him a good kicking this time he'd get the message?

Honestly, if you were a as big a fan as David has proven to be over the years, would you really "honor" the ban and stop attempting to see the object of your fandom live in concert? I certainly would not. Morrissey's opinion of me, were he to ever have one, would not influence my opinion of him and his work enough to stop me from buying his albums or seeing him live. I wouldn't consider this "sneaking" either, as I don't believe the artist is the ultimate decider of who does, or does not, get to view their art. In the case of concerts, the artist can certainly attempt to exhibit this kind of power (moreso than, say, a painter trying to block specific people from entering a museum of art), but that does not mean he holds any real authority that David should recognize.

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

It's a forum, not a religious cult.

By the way, in case the irony escapes you, calling me Hagarta is crude personal abuse.

With regards to this news story and Morrissey acting like a power crazed despot above the law - well duh, its hardly rocket science is it?

In case it escapes you, Hagarta is a pun, not crude personal abuse in any sense. See your own posts for that.

Being abusive to people and telling them they are idiots for liking something. That's personal abuse.

So is that reason enough to want DavidT roughed up? He isn't getting the message that he's banned for life and continues to defy Morrissey?

I agree Peter. This has more than made up for having to listen to World Peace all the way through six times.

No one's forcing you to listen to the record even once.. What a ridiculous statement. Just one of a seemingly infinite amount of ridiculous comments. Why don't you just go away?

Re: DavidT speaks about threat

Robin Gibb, Julia Roberts, George Boedecker, Jr.(Founder of Crocs)"

Three people, alive or dead that you can invite to a dinner party, as chosen by nobody. Ever.

I personally don't believe that a specific, direct order to commit harm to David probably ever came from Moz himself, as opposed to a "it wouldn't bother me if harm found him" suggestion, which probably did. The tour manager might be another story. My friend was backstage at the Santa Ana concert and got to witness that man in action that night (as well as personally seeing the banned list with multiple names and photo of David) and that guy operated on different level entirely. And no, I don't think any kind of physical action would be warranted or justified, short of escorting David out if the have the right to do so.
