Alan Bates was indeed. I don't know whether you've ever seen the film We Think The World of You (1988)? Stars Alan Bates and Gary Oldman. It's got a very Smiths-esque story line. Would make great material for a fan video. I suppose copyright is an issue for more recent movies?

I’ve never seen that film. The other films I’ve seen him in are of the same era (Whistle Down the Wind, Women in Love etc). More recent films are probably more prone to copyright strikes, I wouldn’t know for sure though.
