what did you think about it?

i think is their best one, and probably this year won't know a better album (well, if morrissey won't release anything obviously)

this b&s album is SOOO sweet, so beautiful, so sensible... i am a big b&s fan, but i was really surprised by "fold your hands child, you walk like a peasant" (a great name!)

Yes Fab5dillio but...

Is it as good at a Barbershop Quartet album?

Their best one, huh? Then I'll defiitely put it next on my list of albums to get! I almost bought it two days ago, but I was drawn to the beautiful cover art of the new Sinead O'Connor album "Faith & Courage." That's a good album too, btw! I don't know what Sinead's on about with becoming a preist and everything, but she seems to be very cool about it, even when she's a little bit preachy. She's an angel. And some of her words on this record, and her soothing voice, touch me to the point of tears.

I also recommend Aimee Mann's album "Bachelor #2," although that album you have to be a certain mood or else it can get dull cuz it's so mellow. It's good songs though. Elvis Costello co-wrote one of them.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get into it, save for a few songs. I think it lacks the charm of their previous releases (with regards to the lyrics) and doesn't contain any of the "fun" and humor of "Tigermilk" (their best one, in my humble opinion).

Great title; they should have included "Legal Man" in it.

Sorry to say, not yet, it was not available at my local best record shop yet.But anyway, I live in a place where it's hard to get anything apart from the radiostations playlist stuff, a great shame.

oh sorry, i didn't pay attention to the lyrics (again)

yeah, it has more sad and beautiful ballads - and i like it!

i think they do well in not put their ep songs in their albums - so the money we spend in the eps is more valuable!

i'll try to find this one too - i was sad sometime ago when i watched a joke in saturday night live when some guy said some successfull singer made a show in a supermarket and sinead was there... working in that supermarket. it's good to see she's still there, and it's good to see she became a "cool" religious person.

Belle and Sebastian beating out Jessica Simpson

The album is beautiful. great toe tapping melodies, and smooth transition from song to song.
What's even more beautiful is that it's #80 in the Billboard charts in America (17,000 sold in the first week), which means they're getting massive support in the states.
That should lead to a nice tour at the end of the year.

Yes. My girlfriend has been listening to it non-stop. She loves it. I personally think it is horrible. They could use some distortion guitars or more catchy tunes or something. I can't believe that me and her are still together with such disparate musical tastes. She always tries to get me to listen to her crap, but I prefer to stay with Limp Bizkit and eminen, thank you. Eminem, now he is a very witty lyricist. His lyrics and wit put Morrissey to SHAME.

Agreed. I got the album and was a wee bit dissapointed, i only
have gotten into a few songs so far, but the good points are..
the cover art, the title, i fought in a war, family tree, and
nice day for a sulk..so far at least. But it does some to
lack the charm lyrically which The Boy with the Arab strap did,
and The Boy.. is STILL my faviorte of all time, i LURV those
lyrics..but methinks with time i will grow to really like this
album eventually!

love,
