I've just seen this in Newcastle magazine the Crack:

Is it some kind of joke, or is someone trying to promote a band that sounds a bit like the Smiths? What do people think?

I really don't know. It could very well be legit, but I'm not going to get my hopes up until there's some sort of official announcement. I'd never even heard of the Toffee Hammers before...you'd think with Morrissey's success these days they would have come forward earlier to say they'd backed him way back when. That strikes me as a little odd. =/

*blush* I did the exact same thing...I'm inclined now to think it was just a joke/hoax, but I can't help but be hopeful.
