Re: "Not Again!" Mozzer's Sexuality (poll)
pansexual ftw!
pansexual ftw!
Maybe he just makes love to himself. That's what I do
he's all of these, and none of them.

Not being willing to wrestle with the search function, I was wondering...
has there been much discussion on why Morrissey chooses to maintain an ambivalent public stance on this issue?
Is it a political statement, such as "society needs to develop to the point where gender and sexual identity are irrelevant to status, opportunity, acceptance" therefore refusing to say is a way of insisting it is/should be considered of no importance?
Or is it simply "none of anyone's business, so no I won't tell you"?
Or a means of maintaining his unique position, as an artist and as an Icon?
Is it really good for business?
Is Morrissey just enjoying being awkward for the sake of it?
Is it because "there are worse things than being talked about..."?
Or because he wishes any relationship he has, or would like to have, to be free from the pressure of publicity, intrusion, and speculation?
By asking "How do I define him" perhaps we are missing the point...it doesn't matter.

Yes.
These reasons too, but less important than the first reason above.
Yes.
No.
Perish the thought.
Probably.
No. Making the attempt to define Morrissey is part of his strength. He gets people to think about certain issues in new ways.
I think it's important to distinguish between making the attempt and coming to ironclad conclusions, though. The idea is to try and define Morrissey with an open mind, using your imagination, all with the understanding that you'll never really define him. When you think Morrissey is just putting on an act and you can discern "the obvious truth" (for example: "He's gay. Duh".) you're stumbling down the wrong path.
Worm, you really are spot on. Your posts are always thought-provoking.
Thanks.
What on earth is pansexual supposed to be? Sex with the eyes?
