I have been carrying the Benchmade for close to 13 years now. It has been used so many times, it was well worth the money I paid. Its had so much use I had to send it back to Benchmade to have it serviced. I thought it might be time for a new knife. I searched around and read reviews.

I settled on a Hinderer XM-18. It is an absolute work of art. It's incredible how good a custom piece of equipment feels and operates. But it did not get much use and became a safe knife. The reason was, I am a left front pocket drawer of my knife. The XM-18 is a right pocket dream knife but in the left pocket, tip and blade face the wrong direction. The Benchmade is ambidextrous so although I'm a righty, I like using my knife with my left hand. So the Benchmade was put back into service.

I was still looking for a new knife though. I thought I would try a multi tool as I like the idea of convenience it could offer. I got a Leatherman Charge TTi and it has been sweet. I like having my folder (knife slang) and some tools with me. I write this because my wife handed me a situation this morning. She gave me her car remote with a request to replace the battery, and a pair of sunglasses that an arm came off (screw came out) and for me to fix them. I smiled lovingly, never looking away from her gaze, I reached into my left pocket and BAM......... out comes my new multitool. I confidently say, "I got this" and begin. I used the pliers to put the screw into the arm hole, then the tiny screwdriver to tighten the screw. Then I used the pry bar to open the car remote and change the battery. Sweeeeeeet. A hero for the morning and it's not even 7:30AM yet.
