From the vids I've seen, this looks like it was one hell of a show last night...one of those you wish you'd been at. Moz appears to have been in great form, & his vocals were impeccable. Remarkable!
Pity about the security however, seemed over intrusive. I counted 7 of them on stage for the encore.
Regardless, well done Moz & the band. Fantastic :thumb:

Was Marianne there acting like she’s friends with Morrissey and the band?
Yes. I can confirm she was.
It will have been an amazing night like she always says, and the band were amazing like she always says.
She was up to her usual tricks as well. I must be at the front marcel. We must be. Sob sob sob.
She’s currently wedged firmly in Fid’s butt whilst chomping on chicken deluxe and fries

Concert was quite good tho 🙏

She's sneaky alright

From up in the cheap seats the energy was coming directly from centre stage.
The old bugger can still hit the back walls with ease. Impressive..
Yes, he was amazing. Quite the show. From start to finish. Brilliant. My mum was dancing like a lunatic - making memories.

There was quite a bit of trouble down the front, though. You haven't got to be meek if you're down there. Give as good as you get.

The private lounge was a nice touch with champagne, too.

Some of the folks sitting in the front row were sitting in other people's seats and looked rough as f***. They were chancers not regulars, though.

Did see a number of the entitled twats, but that was inevitable, unfortunately.

The announcement about filming and photography being strictly prohibited was followed by the over zealous security trying to remove people's devices. Idiots. Luckily, M is pretty perceptive and spoke up. Same when the security team decided it was a great idea to stand in front of the stage, obscuring the view. They were soon told where to go.

must be quite special for musicians from foreign shores to play in liverpool, home of the beatles and an inspiration for most musicians.

Nice and all. But what I really don't get is the overall security situation at these gigs, because it always looks extremely odd. I mean, as far as I understand, M actively wants to do handshakes and stuff, so he does. But why is there for example the personal "hand separator" of his team (not venue security) guiding his hand, slapping them apart etc.? Surely some fans won't let go, but for the most part it looks like normal handshakes and M doesn't often let go, at least it looks like this. And sometimes fans are guided to him by the team as if they were sacrificial lambs. I mean why endorse this contact situation (which is perfectly fine and one unique thing of his shows) but then act so rough as if it was completely out of line and unexpected? That's what irks me. If you want stage invasions and handshakes, then do it like in the Smiths days and just let it be (except there is endangerment of course, like the guy pulling him in etc.). I think the mess it creates is totally unnecessary. What are their orders, because it looks like they have to prevent it and not prevent at the same time. Very odd and one reason for the mess it creates.

Is it just me or was there a closing of the show? I think due to the confusion at the end he left without singing some songs that he probably would have sung. Does anyone agree?

I get the feeling a lot of it is staged. The chosen ones are almost escorted through for the hand shakes etc. and gently placed back into the crowd well others are manhandled and thrown back

P
The rest of the 19th july show in Liverpool
Enjoy !

The small army of security that surrounds him whenever he tours must be employed by him so you can only assume he tells them what to do. Just stand outside before and after gigs when he arrives and departs to see them in full flow. Morrissey is so aloof its ridiculous.

Great and slightly weird to hear 'Imperfect List' as the intro again after all these years. Wonder if it's a permanent change or was just for this one show?

Moz's crew are in a difficult position, on the one hand allowing the sort of contact that Morrissey thrives off of, but also protecting him from overzealous maniacs who might well accidentally pull him into the pit in their enthusiasm, and that's the entire tour cancelled due to physical injury. I think last night they were just ensuring no one hung on for too long, started trying to stop a handshake turning into a 'pull me onstage' tug, and kept things moving.

It is true that there is a bit of favouritism when it comes to things like stage invasions, but I reckon that's down to two things: 1) the crew recognising a lot of the regulars who come to every show, and knowing they aren't going to do anything too crazy, 2) natural snap judgement bias against random unknowns. Unfortunately the fact is if you are a 5 foot lightweight built female you are likely to get the benefit of the doubt and be tackled less roughly. If you are a burly 6 foot fat sweaty bloke steamrolling onto stage from the side like a freight train you are more likely to end up in a choke hold (as has been seen before). Sucks, but understandable when they have to decide in a split second who is a threat and who isn't.

Personally I thought the crew and venue security were great last night (once the issues with the overzealous venue staff had been dealt with at the beginning). Clearly someone on the crew, or Moz via the crew, had complained about their behaviour the previous night, when they were way too rough and out to injure folk. Last night people were going over the barrier during Jack the Ripper and managing to get escorted to the stage for a handshake, rather than getting bodyslammed to the floor, which was an improvement.

Not sure but maybe it was played because Pete Wylie/Josie Jones wrote it and it’s Liverpool.

I just wonder why he doesn't perform songs from : ROTT & YATQ & YOR & California Son & WPINOYP and some different songs from the smiths era ???
Bottom line: he has his favorites and he plays what he wants to play. His setlists generally seem to be about 50-60% of what the fans want to hear. From this setlist, there are easily 7 songs I would have replaced.
