Morrissey’s view on gender identity

I think most English people take a fairly relaxed view on the future of Scotland.

I imagine it’s a falling out issue in Scotland, but no friendship will end with any disagreement on that south of the border.

He wasn't relaxed about it. He was quite insistent. For example. Hot Press, August 2014:

They must cut ties with the United King-dumb... I love Scotland, and I love the Scottish spirit and they do not need Westminster in the least.

Fair point. But I still don’t think an English man would fall out with someone that disagreed with him on this (unlike gender identity issues), They just not that invested in the issue. As I say, I could be wrong in this.

Suzy Eddie Izzard - using she/her & the ladies toilets. Defended JK using actual words about gender & not just JK's name while talking about cancellations.

Eddie Izzard is in a totally different position. Given he is trying to become an MP he is trying to placate both sides. And failing.

Do you know where he got the name ‘Suzy’ from? A dead girlfriend. He also bullied two school girls that challenged him in ladies toilets. Nice guy. I used to be a fan of his. No more.

Do you have an opinion on Morrissey making a video with a school boy in high heels?

That’s a strange question!!

Of course I have no problem with that. As long as no one else is negatively impacted, people should be free to wear whatever the hell they want (although I am not sure high heels are great for anyone’s feet - but I don’t know enough about that).

It’s not a great video. It looks really cheap. But nothing against the high heels.

I consider myself pretty progressive. That’s why I do not support gender ideology because as a by-product it has such a negative impact on women and especially women of colour.

I have answered your question. I notice you are unwilling to answer my question as to how you feel about the negative impact it has had on women of colour eg my Muslim friend unable to attend an all women swimming session, the impact on working class black women with less opportunities for scholarships and women with poor English impacted by inclusive language used by health authorities.

You won’t reply because the impact on those groups does not support the narrative in your head that you are a good progressive individual, when you in fact support a rascist ideology.

So, you're gender critical but you have no problem with drag for kids, drag around kids, drag in schools or a video featuring school kids in drag?

I find I am answering your question again but you don’t have the guts to answer mine.

As I said, I don’t mind boys wearing ‘women’s’ shoes if that is what they want to do. I really don’t think most gender critical people would have a problem with that. This does not make the boys that wear those shoes to be girls.

I don’t think you fully understand the views of the people you are arguing against.

I don’t think any adult performer’s including drag acts should be welcomed into schools or children’s spaces. For obvious safeguarding purposes.

If they want diverse people to read to small children, why can’t gay men, lesbians, disabled people, or people of colour that have achieved something worthwhile, do the reading to inspire the children, instead of predominantly white males with huge fake tits and porn related names? This shouldn’t need to be said.

The whole ok, groomer drag kids thing just passing you by? It's a video with a child actor wearing heels because it's in the script.

Morrissey has been around trans artists without any issues arising.

I am not sure I truly follow your train of thought. I would guess just like Morrissey, that many, if not most, people have worked with trans people without major issues.

But the reality is that sex is binary and it can be important in terms of retaining safe spaces for women, women’s sport, women’s prisons, changing rooms, toilets, women only shortlists etc.

Do you have the courage of your convictions to answer my questions? Of course you don’t. Coward.

He's talked about gender, worked with trans people & hasn't mentioned any of these issues.

But you asked my views on a range of issues and I have provided you with full and comprehensive answers.

Why can you not do the same about your views? It’s because you can’t defend the ideology you believe in, as it has negative consequences primarily for working class women of colour.

You can obviously live with that (I couldn’t). At least admit that.

All you did was reveal that you're not keeping up with the discourse or you would have issues with Morrissey getting a child actor to wear drag in a video - not to mention that his gigs have been opening with videos of two drag acts & one trans woman & people have taken their kids to these gigs.

I don’t have issues with any of those things. It’s not about not keeping up with the discourse. Not all left wing people have exactly the same views on every subject, the same for people that are right wing. Most people are capable of some independent thought instead of falling in line for very issue with whatever the current view is of their particular ‘tribe’. There is a broad range of views under the gender critical position (some left, some right, some centre).

Your thinking is very immature if you do not grasp this.

Why can’t you answer my questions?

You're trying to claim he belongs to a movement that he's never discussed that has positions that would be against him.

There's no shortage of people who are talking about it, so I don't see the need.

I am not 100% sure Morrissey is gender critical or not - right at the start I suggested that there is contradictory evidence, but it is interesting to speculate. I have not been claiming him for the gender critical side. That is an absurd thing to suggest.

You will not answer my questions. I can only think that is because you are comfortable with the negative impact on women of colour, which is racist.

Lionel, people not discussing your opinions with you has nothing to do with women of colour.
