Was Morrissey invited to sing in Venezuela Aid Live?

Writing, recording and singing a song about Venezuela is doing way much more than what a lot of people who are posing now as defenders of Venezuelan democracy did during those times. Of course he wasn't invited to this event. Maybe Morrissey is not in the best terms with the sir who is organizing it.

And don't forget the Venezuelan flag that he waved at concerts on those few occasions when he performed WWSUFTP live.

Was there any American (or European) major act performing at Live Aid, or just local acts?

Not only local acts, there were people from another American countries, even from Spain. I guess the reverse racism of the organizer influenced in the choice of artists, just Spanish speaking artists. Some people still think in terms of latins and no latins, which is hideous. In my country artists are just artists and we love them no matter where they come from, no matter what language they speak. That's why we love Morrissey and others. The same happens in the rest of South America. I still think Morrissey deserved an invitation, even if he decided not to assist.

Roger Waters is stupid or evil. He knows nothing about the pain people are suffering in Venezuela. For him it's all about power and oil and being rebel and socialist. But people are dying because they don't have antibiotics in one of the potentially richest places on earth. Twenty pounds is the average body weight adult people lost because they don't have enough food. Something is essentially wrong with all this situation from a humanitarian point of view. With millions in your bank account you can dream with the romanticism of socialism. But being a poor person who can't travel around the world and has to feed a family in Venezuela is a nightmare. Let's put ideologies and utopias aside for a while and think about human beings and real everyday life. Rogers Waters represents the worst of this world: hypocrisy.

Yes, it is a little short-sighted to only invite artists performing in the Spanish because language should not be a barrier to solidarity. Still, I hope the organizers were able to raise a considerable amount of money. The biggest problem though, is to get the aid to the people. The Venezuelan regime is totally criminal.
