The world's oldest music store Spillers Records bans Morrissey albums

Morrissey banned. Let the book burning's begin..

Spillers Records bans Morrissey music over his support for the far right - Wales Online
The world's oldest record store said it was 'saddened but not surprised'

Excerpt:

The world's oldest record store Spillers Records in Cardiff has banned Morrissey records from its store.

The shop, in Morgan Arcade, is refusing to stock the singer's releases because of his continued support for the far-right.

...
However, one place you won't be able to buy the album is Cardiff's much loved independent record shop Spillers.

Ashli Todd, the owner of Spillers said: "I'm saddened but ultimately not surprised that Spillers is unable to stock Morrissey’s releases any longer. I only wished I’d done it sooner.”

I can only speak for myself but i don't believe people here are really triggered by this. I believe this store has every right not to sell his records however more than anything people in this thread are just calling out the hypocrisy on display by this record store while they pretend to hold some moral high ground. Their logical and moral inconsistency displays just clear detest for Moz. and not some higher ground. Though it does point to a bigger conversation about the state of our society and censorship
This thread is filled with people rudely questioning the gender of the shop owner, encouraging each other to send hate mail and performing endless whataboutism. I think it’s a non-issue and really don’t give a shit either way, but it certainly seems like “you people” are upset about something.

I'm sure she's never lifted a finger to challenge right wingers before. I love all 12 covers and I've only heard 5. Happy B-day sweetness.

I wrote a song about her poxy store and the decision:

Made me giggle
made me LOL
you are poor
have no control
this is what you do when the going gets tough

What do you plan on next
burning books full of text
a pile so high
you want him to die
but that ain't happening
this is why

He had a life unlike you sister
he achieved more than you ever will
when you stand in that moldy store
he will be out there in the world
but you will remain a bore (whore)

Can we put Morrissey’s 60th birthday back at the top of this page where it belongs... for just one day?!? Christ.

You're a complete moron. "displays just clear detest"
It's not censorship when a private business chooses not to stock a product. You seemed to think that stopping pornography was Hitler's issue with Jewish people and you were in favor of that. But now this is OMG CENSORSHIP!
Please never talk about low IQ again when you constantly give evidence that you're such a moron. :thumb:

I’m starting to notice an upsurge in creepy posts from you. Not just the standard sycophantic Morrissey arse licking, but proper creepy & questionable behaviour. I’d put you on ignore if I didn’t enjoy trolling you so much.

You seem oddly very protective of !Viva. She's a big girl with a big adam's apple and even bigger balls. She doesn't need your white knighting. @!Viva Hate! Stop feeding soyboy86 your estrogen pills

Liberals are some confused folks. So Muslims hate Jews, gays, and women. Their book says gays should die. But it’s morrissey, a gay man, who’s hateful for having an issue. That is such an offensive twisted line of logic.

In the context of running a record store and the kind of “stand” one can take while doing so? Yes. It’s certainly got the snowflake Mozbots predictably triggered.
I guess me making a comment means I've been triggered. I always wondered what it would be like.

They can chose to sell what they want or are you saying shops should be forced to sell things they chose not to?

The same dorks endlessly whining about “free speech” and individual freedoms are the ones now having an aneurysm because a privately-owned business decided to take a stand against a musician whose views they deem problematic. So predictable, so dull.

I agree, they have every right to sell what records they want. But wouldn’t they be hypocrites if they did not go through all the other artists that have done or said really shitty things and ban those artists records as well?

The answer is yes they would be hypocrites, and THEY ARE HYPOCRITES.

This has nothing to do with ‘taking a stand’ this has to do with publicity. They are just parasites feeding off the fame of a human being.

How sad.

They don’t have to apply the same rules to every other artist represented in the shop. Outrage is subjective. Maybe she was a big fan of Morrissey and his recent bullshit is particularly upsetting to her. Either way, this is the “whataboutism” I mentioned earlier.

The idea that this “publicity” will translate to more sales for the shop is as absurd a theory as The Guardian “making millions” off of running a negative story about Morrissey here and there. You’re delusional when it comes to your hero.
