There is a Light - Spanish Version question

Hi,
I was in my car a while ago and played my mate Live at Earls Court and There is a Light came on. He isn't a Morrissey fan but is into Spanish music. I know. He said there was a very popular Spanish version of this song and actually thought it was the original, so I'm glad I educated him on that point.
Does anyone know who that song is by, might be worth a listen?
It was a while ago now, just came to me after seeing the Smiths tribute album.

It is "Esta luz nunca se apagará", from Mikel Erentxun in the early 90's.

He is a long-time "second row" spanish pop star, confessed as a huge Moz fan. He also covered "Everyday is like sunday" titled (I think) "Todos los días son domingo".

I saw him in a tv interview a few weeks ago and he said that it would be a dream to record a song with Morrissey.

Recently he has been sued by The Lighthouse Family for copying their song "Pure" in his laltest hit.

And the title to the EILS cover was Todo Es Igual Siempre.
He also duetted with Lloyd Cole on his latest record.

It's strange that neither uploader has mentioned Morrissey or The Smiths at any point in the description or in the tags for the videos, thereby depriving a lot of Morrissey fans the experience of finding them....

Listening to the studio version, I can't help thinking of the Eurovision Song Contest (at its very best, I hasten to add)....

Mikel's spanish version of There is a Light was a pretty big hit in the LA radio in the 90s and I really do love that song, he does justice to the Smiths.

This version is criminally bad.
What on earth was he thinking of, changing Marr's beautiful melody over to this tuneless racket? Where has the wonderful chorus disappeared to?
Up his own arse...?
His ego must be monstrously huge to think that he could possibly improve on the original in this way...
