Has Moz said anything about Israel lately?

I'm a bit surprised Morrissey has been so quiet about the Israel- Palestine war, since he has always express such love to Israel? I mean, is not like being cancelled is an issue for him.

I'm glad he hasn't been tricked into making a comment.

You can like the people in a country without liking their appalling government.

I hate to be like certain people I know. The song's on the radio right now.

Agreed.

I know that I’ve been quite concerned one of those politically motivated Rumpelstiltskin types would lure something yucky out of him.

"Each time you vote , you support the process" doh:
Even though these people hate this government very much now, someone voted for it. I'll give you a hint, the people in this country.

Another thing is why he should comment on this war now, when this terrifying conflict has been going on for decades ?

In Gavin McIness' recent video about attending one of the Moz gigs in New York, he mentions a little story about a fan with an Israeli flag and Morrissey's reaction, though I'm not sure how much truth there is to it, since I've not seen any mention of this elsewhere.

he begins at around 7:33 in this clip:

Ffs.

These are exactly the kind of gruesome tossers I hope Morrissey keeps away from.

I very much doubt he would refuse a flag & then chuck his shirt at a guy because of Israel.

I can't stand the UK government & I didn't vote for them - so I'm not going to judge anyone else because of their government.

It seems some f***wit bright spark thought that it would help Israel if they encouraged various politician/pundits to agitate against "mass immigration" to the West. So - his old scandals made him a target.

Which is why they expect him to comment.

But, Israel's pr is a disaster (they very definitely do not secretly rule the world) so hopefully the milieu will lose interest in him & he can get his life back.

Morrissey should zip his lip about politics since he knows nothing about what he's talking about, ever.

I was there, from my point of view, ( the left side) he ignored the small flag being held up. Meaning, I didn’t see him make any gesture or take notice of it. I haven’t watched any video of incident after, so maybe I missed something(?) Nor did I watch this podcast guy spin his yarn. What a bore it all is.

His label didn’t want to reissue I’m Throwing My Arms Around Paris for the Paris tragedy as he had proposed. Perhaps he can get “Israel” released as a single?

Was he on a label at the time? I think Boz was asking a prior company to rerelease it?

Yes, it’s already been mentioned. And you’re a moderator? please, do keep up!

I'm suspicious of that Paris episode.

He's constantly referring to people telling him things - he heard people wanted to buy the single. Who did he hear it from? It seems someone has been keen to get him involved in Islamic terrorist discourse & as they're doing it dishonestly he doesn't say the things they want him to say - making it weird.

It is very tiresome.

Haven't you heard Israel? "I can't answer | for what armies do | they are not you | they are not you | they are not you...". Morrissey supports and promotes intellectuals like Douglas Murray who very intelligently formulates the issues and challenges now faced by secular western societies:

In Europe you have one side which stands for patriarchal, freedom-hating, antisemitic, homophobic, anti-feminist values, and another side who are too afraid of opposing those and of being labelled as islamophobic and racist.

The "people" telling him things could be the same rhetorical device Donald Trump uses when he wants to self-affirm. "People are constantly coming up to me and saying, 'Sir, [praise for Trump's idea, policy, behavior]'." These are imaginary people, of course.

Except he doesn't apply that same logic to America. Compare Israel to America is not the world. One is a hymn of praise in spite of the armies, the other is a tortured, backhanded love letter blaming the armies and the worst elements. Something is wrong here.

I would imagine like most sane people he is torn on the subject. Appalled by the terrible antisemitism. Appalled by the woke zealots who seem to have found common cause with Islamic jihadism in hating the West. But also appalled by the sight of a war machine bombing innocent civilians.

If you really go into the lyrics, the core message is more or less the same. But of course it will be a bit different if the country is like a world police big brother or an underdog surrounded by enemies, and therefore I think Israel should rather be compared to Mexico than America Is Not The World. But every country and every song is different, so it's a bit like comparing apples and oranges and expecting them to taste the same.

Israel has military might in obscene excess to the Palestinians and its Arab neighbors, but somehow it's an underdog? No, it's an aggressive bully just like the U.S. is. "We only want peace. Now please move aside for these bulldozers and their armed escorts as they demolish your vineyard and home so we can build a yeshiva for our new community going in here. Your refugee camp is that way." The U.S. is Israel's patron.

Why would he want to say anything about Israel? He’d get it in the neck, no matter what he said.

He has probably said all he wants to say about Israel in the song.
