Funeral Songs

I just read that someone who posted on a message board I sometimes frequent has died. While reading his friend's message telling us of his death, I was listening to the instrumental of Interlude. It got me thinking, not for the first time, about what songs I want played at my funeral. If you were pushed, what three songs would you pick to have played at your funeral?

At the moment I'd have:
1. Now My Heart Is Full by Morrissey
2. Still Life by Suede
3. Adieu Mon Couer by Edith Piaf

Hmmm...

Hmmm, I remember this thread from the old forum...

Funeral Tango by Scott Walker
Such a small love by Scott Walker
If you go away by Scott Walker

1. Asleep - The Smiths
2. Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want - The Smiths
3. I'd Love To - Morrissey

Speedway, just the one song.

Speedway would/will/might be my choice. Knowing my family they'd play anything by Van Morrisson and then go to the pub! "It's what he would have wanted", they'll say just as well I won't be around to complain. I hope I see it coming and help organise it myself! They couldn't organise a wake at a funeral.

Since I want my funeral to be fun, I am going to have them hand out lyric sheets and make everyone sing "The Humpty Dance" by Digital Underground.

Everyone is also going to be required to drink single malt scotch.

Prokofiev "Romeo and Juliet Suite"
Shirley Bassey "Ave Maria"
Morrissey "At Last I Am Born"

but i wouldn't mind Metal Machine Music by Lou Reed in case there won't be anybody 'cept preacher and gravedigger )

my list of songs would be
As I lay me down (sophie B Hawkins )
Wonderful Life (Black)
And of course There is a light by the master.

Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale
The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
Morrissey - Disappointed and Every Day Is Like Sunday.
The Cure - Lovesong
Suede - The Wild Ones

Basically, there'd be no readings at my funeral, just a pre-ordained list of songs from yours truly and possibly karaoke if i'm feeling generous (which will be determined by how i look in death).

the good will out........embrace
vicar in a tutu.........the smiths
there is a light........morrissey

Whiter Shade of Pale is a good one, I would pick that one, as well as

Every Shining Time You Arrive - Sunny Day Real Estate
and
Bye - Elliot Smith
